At least it's legit right?

For the most part yes.

My player doesn't play it though.

The worst part about fake copies (aside from the obvious theft part) is that the discs are usually cheaper. You usually get single layered discs for example, and the video quality often takes a big hit.

At least John Wick 3 is pretty cheap. Wouldn't be too hard to buy a replacement at some point.

Quote from: Legend on Oct 09, 2024, 03:30 PMI read books now. Maybe I should actually just read the book.
Dune 1 was very close to the books, except for the mandatory Hollywood race and gender swapping of a character or two.  though I read  the book and saw the movie years apart, so I can't say exactly how close.  But it was very faithful

The hard thing with Dune though is that it's written in third person omniscient, so you the writer shares the thoughts of every character on screen, which are sometimes inner thoughts each character has. Which I feel is a bit hard to translate on screen and in movie form. Not impossible, but makes things a bit more difficult

The old dune movie just let you hear the voices in people's heads. It was great. I think I like that movie better than the remakes. Had skyrim shouting!

I remember my prof lamenting that they never got the eyes right in the 80s movie on the mini series.  The new movies got them wrong too.

Looking forward to seeing this in 15 months....

Watched the Truman Show last week.

A very well done and interesting movie. I haven't watched anything quite like it, and the closest comparison I can make is the Matrix without much tension or action.  But it's very much it's own thing.
Wifey didn't like the flow. We had a different experience because I knew the premise going in.

The movie is kind of low key horrifying.

Watched most of Robot Dreams. A very impactful movie with no dialogue.

Truman is fun. Impressive that your wife didn't know the twist.

She didn't even know about the movie going into it.

It's in so much popular culture. I feel like the concept of the movie is more well known than the movie itself at this point. Same with Groundhog Day.

And on the subject...

edt: I found a google glitch.

Just google "groundhog day" and you'll get an endless loop of "did you mean groundhog day?"

Recursion has the same glitch.
A real good Google glitch is when you search friends ross, and you click on the couch at the top.

I haven't seen many options. They seem to cost (well) over $100 used.
