Nah, but I saw a few Reddit posts about it.

To be precise I wanted to kind of get ahead, in case anyone else saw it. Let people know it sounds questionable.

Quote from: Legend on Sep 20, 2024, 08:00 PMIf it's actually $400 million, that is just crazy. Wait and that doesn't even include buying the studio!? That can't be right, since the $200 million lines up well with the rumored purchase price.

His talk about toxic positivity sure sounds true. They failed at every step of development but at the very least after the gameplay reveal they should have known things were horribly wrong. It's not like many bad games where launch day is when things crash.
In particular, the claim is that the game reached an Alpha state in Q1 of 2023 and was in a laughable state. Thus Sony spent $200 million after that to fix the issues.

Yeah no way am I believing this cost 400 million.

Sony cancelled games that weren't working before from devs they trusted more. They cancelled SSMs new IP and naughty dogs TLOU multiplayer. If this was in a laughable state in Q3 why would Sony spend another 200 million on it?
How could they spend 200 million in just over a year and the remaining 7 years of dev just cost another 200 million?

All this doesn't add up

Yeah certainly spent peanuts on marketing. Unless Secret Level was expensive.

It's so bizarre to me how much certain people want the $400m claim to be true.

It's literally the 5th highest rated post ever on r/gamingleaksandrumours.
Practically tied with the Switch 2 leaks, which are #4.

How in the heck?
