I might be saying some of the other games might be better worth a chance.

I'm 5 hours into elden ring. The more I am playing it the more I am enjoying it. It's great so far. I think I'd still prefer their old style of game design, where it was huge interconnected complex levels that are somewhat linear.  But we shall see. Can't wait to get home from work and play it today

the game design feels worse around the mid point of the game when you realize you can't move forward because you missed some obscure thing prior and you end up having to repeat things almost aimlessly.

...or just read a guide.

I'll have to see about that. So far I am stuck at a boss who keeps whooping my dog, so I keep exploring new areas and upgrading. Only to come back and get my dog whooped

Its a great game so far, and I am really enjoying it.  I just wish there that there was an easy mode, I dont understand the push back on that, just reduce the amount of damage I recieve and increase the amount I hit by just a bit. Thats all I am asking here....

Which boss are you on and what level are you?

Are you useing the summons?

I played in coop so I couldn't but i hear it counts as "easy mode" for single players.

Margit, the fell omen. I'm like level 33 now or something. But I believe I can beat him now, I actually had one hit left and then got pushed down the cliff......

But I hate the design philosophy that players get hit so hard and take so much damage. I simply don't think it's good game design.

I am using summons. And it certainly isn't easy mode for single player. My summons get wrecked in no time.

A dumb piece of advice that you've probably already figured out.

Some enemies are disproportionately annoying compared to what you get out of them.

Don't feel bad about skipping or cheesing them.

Sometimes it gets personal.....

The huge dog bears in limewood.... Yeah they got what they deserved. And all of their kin will as well.

You know what.. I think it's time I visit my old friend the tree sentinel at the start of the game... That mofo needs an attitude change.

I was going to put this in the Elden Ring thread, but it's really about 2 different games. So I guess I'll put this here.

I played Astro's Playroom yesterday and did the bot puzzles. And there is no way in a week that I would solve any of those puzzles on my own. They all involve very  specific things, like going to very specific locations and doing very specific things.

They're neat easter eggs in an absurd way, but aside from that, they don't feel particularly good.

But this was the only game that I played in the past few weeks.

And it motivated me to get back into Elden Ring. Beat one of the bosses that was driving me nuts. And found some locations that I was missing. So I had a good time.

Kind of how I feel about Black Myth.  It's easier most of the time, but there are bosses every once in a while, that one swipe from them and you're at half health.  But a good combo with charged heavy attack from you and the boss health goes down like 1/100.  Its hugely disproportionate sometimes.  I get having a challenge but it's usually more frustrating than fun.

But other than that Black Myth is great most of the time.

Yaaaaaaa baby. Go back to elden ring. Its an awesome game

i did them last night as well!

...and agree.  they where not good puzzle design.  whomever solved it first must have spent hours just moving around randomly trying to figure out the triggers.   not fun.   glad i did it though.   was nice to get back in there even for just a bit.   did you go to the "control room" afterwards?
