I played 1 match last night and i'm already out.

What i played was a very standard team death match game.   I'm not a fan of pvp so I didn't really expect to love this but even compared to pvp i played back on ps3 (uncharted, killzone 2) the gameplay didn't seem to have anything special about it.

I loved the vibe though.  The use of retro colors and the music was great.  I'm kind of in love with the franchise but hate the game.   i wish this was a pve game like destiny or monster hunter or something.

as pvp this is dead on arrival.

From what I've heard, this is a very good game, but it's DOA.

It's a little funny/sad, Astro Bot looks like it'll be a bigger hit, and I doubt Sony would have imagined that to be the case, even 3 months ago.

PVP is community based and thus risky.  either everyone wants to play your game or no one does.  no in-between.   if you're not massively successful you're stuck in a room loop.

Concord's second free weekend on PS5 defies logic with 8% player drop

It's still possible this game finds success, but if it's gonna be a failure it might as well be a spectacular failure. Will this at least do better than Rigs and Drawn to Death?

plenty of games can "survive" on a small but dedicated community.  that doesn't make is a success by sony's standards whos criteria is profitability.

Any word on when reviews are dropping? Easy to predict it'll flop with players but harder to predict how it'll fair on metacritic.

Current uninformed prediction:
84
79
66

Concord isn't even on opencritic  ???

I get the feeling that Sony doesn't expect great review scores. Has there even been a trailer since notE3?

Thanks.

Maybe they want to do a big media blitz once it's out, but right now it feels like a rando nobody game and not a first party Sony game. If not for your post and for PlayStation pinning it on twitter, I wouldn't know it's coming out.

Can't recall a single ad for it. Seen plenty for other games this past week.

I feel like they're pushing it a bit. I think I've only seen a couple YouTube ads, but they're pushing it harder on Twitter and Facebook I feel like.

The digital deluxe version lets people play 3 days early.

So it's out I guess.

Def haven't seen a twitter ad for it. Only seen other games. Maybe the algo knows I'm a hater but it feels like it's dead already. Sony cutting their losses.

It'll be fun to see how this game does compared to Ninja Theory's Bleeding Edge. Crazy that there can even be a comparison since Bleeding Edge was such an out of nowhere flop, but currently Concord is tracking with half the steam followers.

Bleeding Edge peaked at 1,464 concurrent steam players which should be trivial for Concord to pass so we'll see how things play out.

Another interesting comparison is Predator Hunting Grounds. Had ~4k followers at release, only managed 283 concurrent players for launch. Concord is at ~5k followers.

At least according to one reviewer, Sony didn't send out review copies pre release.

So on one hand I should lower my metacritic prediction. On the other hand, how many reviews will this game even get? It has already been out for 3 days yet it has no reviews. Yeah it's the more expensive early launch but for other games that's when reviews go up.

I know I'm fixated on this but it's just so interesting seeing Sony of all devs make such a massive flop.

Edt: first review!
