I wish there was a better term for this genre but it's by far my favorite.

FEZ
The Witness
Her Story
Outer Wilds
Tunic
Rain World
Return of the Obra Din
7 days to end with you
Chants of Senaar
The Rootrees are Dead

Basically it's puzzle games where the puzzles are interconnected.

One of these videos is about sekiro. It's hard to find a definition that only includes the games I like  ::)

The bottom video also includes Elden Ring.

I'm sure one of these years, you'll get around to playing them through, and end up loving them.   :-*

I finally watched some of the videos I posted (some I watched years ago but most were just found with a search  ::) )

I hate the term metroidbrainia. Way too many people think these games should just be a sub genre of metroidvanias, functioning exactly like them with no difference to the player.

If you gain the ability to open a door by finding the physical key or by finding a keycode, there is no difference. "metroidbrainias" that just do that are not metroidbrainias imo.

The thing I care about with these types of games and would love a clear category for, is that the player's knowledge builds towards a unified enlightenment. The reward for solving a puzzle is much more than just access to new content.

Rainworld, Her Story, and The Witness are opposites in most ways yet I think they all belong in this category. Enlightenment Simulators I'll call them for a few days until I come up with something better  :P
