with the difficulty in match making I tried a couple missions solo.   it was really really hard even on "easy".   

it is easy to group up so I can recommend to those that don't have IRL friends to play with.  

...but if you intend to avoid the matchmaking I cannot recommend.

new ccu high just made again.  still hours from the expected daily peak.

At 136,695 concurrent players and growing. Best a paid Microsoft game (Halo MCC) has ever done on steam is 161k so I wonder if it'll beat that.

Halo Infinite hit 272k and Destiny 2 hit 316k, just to give some context.

I think it legitimately has a shot at topping Halo Infinite this weekend if they fix the matchmaking issues.

So, a bit of a retro of this week.

I am completely exhausted by the success. So is the team, many, many late nights, on-calls, emergency meetings, discussions around server capacity, shards, capacity units, CPU utilization, login rates and CCU.

Lol,..  two points:

I think this game benefited not being $70.  $40 is much, much more approachable.

Also,.. i'm glad its not f2p either.  i like that the "battlepasses" give me something to work for but isn't grindy as all hell.  Well worth the $40 upfront to have a good experience in-game instead of one that is trying to wear me down into spending money.   Also love that the battlepasses don't expire.  I'm 500% more likey to buy one if the future knowing i don't need to play constantly over 3 months to get the benefits before they expire.


So in summary,.. it really found a great balance in its monetization.
