Seems like a great thing. Glad to see physical media have a little bit of success.

Oppenheimer is a great movie. Different from what I expected.

Quote from: Legend on Nov 24, 2023, 06:25 PMSome jokes were pretty funny but others were really lame imo. Felt like a live action Rick and Morty at times and I was already pretty tired of that show. Also the main story was too obvious imo, I was hoping it'd be smarter than that.

Still an ok movie.
Spoiler for Hidden:
The ending was pretty obvious from the start, but the whole journey to get there wasn't for me at least.

There's a Rick and Morty element of nihilism and multiverse stuff, but I think it uses it differently; and I never really felt like it was Rick and Morty-ish until you brought it up.

Rick and Morty leans into nothing matters of nihilism; but I think EEAAO comes out the other end to have a positive message.
The multiverse stuff is more focused on the superposition of different paths that can be taken; the different choices that people make with their lives, rather than simply having replacement universes or other universes to explore. R&M doesn't particularly explore different choices that are made. Watched Teenage Kraken.

It's like a mix between Turning Red and Little Mermaid.

Not a great movie, but didn't think it was terrible either.

My son really seems to like it for whatever reason.

But not Dreamwork's best.

Legend

Dreamworks knew it was bleh. They spent practically nothing advertising it.

Trailer has an odd feeling to it imo. Hopefully its the trailer's editing and not a problem with the movie itself.

i loved the previous mad max and i love anya. this is exactly the kind of movie i want to break of the tedium of two decades of superhero movies.

Imo it looked so hype. Didn't even realize that was Hemsworth. I thought he stopped acting??

He was on a break.

QuoteNevertheless, this week, Oppenheimer had an HD share of 74% and 36% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.

If I'm understanding this right, about 1 in 3 physical copies of Oppenheimer were on UHD.
I'm assuming this means DVD: 26%, Blu-ray: 38%, UHD: 36%.

Blu-ray Sales: November 19-25: Oppenheimer Tops the Charts in Debut

Might have been a rare instance that UHD outsold the blu-ray, if stock was available.

These are pretty surprising:
Interstellar 4K (97%)
Dune 4K (2021) (72%)

I'm guessing a lot of people rebuying Interstellar.

Dune feels less surprising. It's regularly $10, and I think regularly cheaper than the blu-ray

Interesting that his character's name is Dementus as in dementia

Got the Back to the Future trilogy on 4K.

Would also like to get Indiana Jones and Pirates of the Caribbean on 4K. And would like to get some more Nolan movies (Interstellar, Inception, etc)

Would also like to get How to train your dragon on blu-ray.

the-pi-guy

Watched the first back to the future in 4K. Not sure if I'll watch the other two soon ish.

Looks great.
Not the cleanest 4K movie I've played. But it was an awesome improvement over the DVD...

looks like oppenheimer 4k is in stock at my local walmart. Might order for home delivery today since it has the option.
