Wise. PS+ monthly games have stayed good but Xbox games with gold have been a joke for years. They tend to be 360 games you've never even heard of.

A few gamepass games would be a great upgrade for people.

Quote from: the-Pi-guy on Jul 17, 2023, 12:32 AMThere's a rumor that Xbox Live base is getting replaced with a stripped down version of Game Pass Core.

It seems like the idea is to give people a taste of Gamepass:

1. so core would no longer have monthly games?
2. at $9.99 a month cost will have doubled?
3. the price to feature between "core" and "console" is massively lopsided.

in summary: looks like MS's growing monopoly of video game publishers is already showing how terrible it will be for customers.   can't use their console without an overpriced subscription.   MS might as well just eliminate core entirely and put mp gaming into gamepass.   would be less anger inducing than this.

Halo 5, not infinite lol.

welp, didn't notice the confirmed when i posted.

well this cut MS's cost a lot.  no more need to pay 3rd party publishers for games.   even less opportunity for studios not owned by MS.   ..all according to plan i'll assume.

1. Correct. Gets updated "2-3 times a year"
2. Xbox Live's monthly cost was $10, $5 average if you bought the yearly pass. It's still $60/year for that pass.
3. All depends on whether you are getting the monthly or the yearly. Not sure if GamePass Console has a yearly subscription?

just read the era thread and realized i was confused.   these teirs and naming are pretty confusing as i (like many) didn't realized that gamepass console didn't include multiplayer.

interesting that this is basically a nerf for gamepass ultimate subscribers.

Article title writers suck.

There are new articles about how Microsoft was the one to convince Bethesda to delay Starfield when they got acquired.

And those article titles do not say when.

Top two article titles that show up when I search for Starfield:

>Starfield delayed following Xbox's encouragement
>Xbox and Microsoft Delayed Starfield to Ensure its Quality

(back in 2021/2022)

BG3 not coming to xbox this year.  so not a lot different from what i posted earlier but this confirms a big delay to the release.

It's just the perfect wrench in Microsoft's plans. Hopefully Microsoft drops their requirements. I don't want games to keep playing like last gen games.

Also the new xbox ui is bad but not as bad as I feared. Finally tried it out the other day.

it's a damned if they do and damned if they don't situation.  i mean, i called it that series S would hold back the entire gen when it was announced.   series S would have been amazing if it had done amazing but now that it didn't it will be a huge albatross on xbox's back.

Microsoft's largest game, that they paid 7.5 Billion dollars to make exclusive, launched to no fanfare here!

billion.  with a "B".

i still think that MS got a really good deal here.  not as good as sony's purchase of insomiac but bethesda is soo much more than just starfield/fallout/skyrim.
