I'm not really sure whether or not ya'll on this forum have played returnal or not so i'm going to assume not an keep things spoiler free.

this is my GotG right now.   holy crud was this game amazing.
- the gameplay is soo well polished.
  - every gun feels great and varied.  one gun in particular feels like i've never seen it done before.   they all feel soo satisfying to use.
  - i loved the "bullet hell" gameplay with dodging.   it plays so wonderfully fresh from all the run and gun or cover shooters on the market
  - the "adrenaline" system was great.  probably not great for other types of shooters but it works sooo well in this one.
  - the biodomes where soo well designed.  not just visually distinctive but gameplay distinctive too.

- the visuals were amazing
  - i mean,.. overuse of "particles" and "tentacles" maybe but like in a good way.
  - everything felt distinct but also cohesive.

- The story was really good too
  - something i really didn't expect even though i was told so but the story is actually great.   it's actually great how perfectly matched it was to a rogue-like.
  - i don't want to spoil anything here but this is a rare example where the gameplay feels necessary to the story telling.

- Actually balanced for coop
  - i played this a lot in both solo and in coop.
  - i've played a lot of amazing"1-player" games that allow coop.   typically the coop experience is pretty unbalanced.  by that i just mean that playing in coop massively reduces the difficulty for a variety of reasons but on of the main ones is enemy/boss AI can't figure out who to aggro on.   games typically just play with the life/dps settings to try and balance things but rarely does it really work well.
  - returnal genuinely is amazing in coop and it's absolutely amazing how well it maintains it's "experience" in both solo and coop.

anyhoo.   in summary if you haven't played returnal i really really highly recommend it.   it's "free" on extra right now and i'd be happy to coop with any of ya'll if you want that.

Still haven't played it but wow such a glowing review. It's been one I've really wanted to try.

Not subbed to PS+ though so I have to keep waiting.

it was soo good i just had to share.  i hope everyone here gives it a try at some point.

going to try to go for the plat but i hear it's a bad one.   as a rogue-like you can't really make deliberate progress on the trophies and are instead at the mercy of RND.  still, the game is soo fun i'm up for any reason to keep playing for at least a while longer.

Guess I'll need to play on pc  8)
so like Pi said,.. there isn't an "easy" mode.   and as a rogue-like the game is kind of designed around the idea that you die frequently.

while trying to keep things spoiler free i'll just say that in-game you can find stuff.   stuff is RND but certain stuff can really make you're game easier.  so like:
- i died A LOT getting though bio-domes 1 and 2.
- ...but then i got really lucky on a set of stuff and in 1 run blew though the entire game in 1 run.

so like,... it's luck based but the game can be dramatically easier if you gear up well.

I don't have a problem with difficulty per se but I like to progress through games a little bit faster with less repetition. Only rouge-like I've finished was Hades and I had lost all my love for it by the end.

yeah i really liked what i played, but i was getting so frustrated at the first boss.  I was solo though.  But it was getting too repetitive for my liking. So i'll likely never return to it but ya never know.

I played a few hours of Returnal.

The mechanics play really awesomely, but the experience hasn't exactly captured me. Something I will go back to though.
