I watched d&d. Pretty good! Zero interest in the game but the humor landed better than modern marvel imo.

Dragged down for the plot. Apparently it's paper Mario thin

I watched Turning Red.

Thought it was surprisingly good.

Anyone interested?

I feel like the story will be fine, but the visuals don't look very good.

Like what on Earth is going on here:

Sorry didn't want to link the tweet itself, but it had the picture I wanted to share.

Wow that scene does look bad. Why would you make a movie about fire beings without making sure their lighting looked great?

I'll watch the movie and it'll be fine but it looks uninspired to me. Zootopia already did something pretty similar with a city divided into groups and almost every animated movie involves people becoming friends despite their differences.

I think Disney Wish looks slightly better. I hate the artstyle but half of Disney's recent animated movies have been pretty good.

I saw the Wish trailer yesterday and was actually thinking it looked like a low res textured game

I really liked Zootopia and I think that's a pretty universal story; so I'm sure I would like the story.

But I am so baffled by that scene. It gives me like 1990's low budget vibes.  The fire people in general look bad and make whole scenes look bad.

I think Wish looks broadly fine. It also gives me low budget princess movies vibes, and does not give me "made by the same people as Frozen" vibes.

I'm baffled by both of these movies to some extent.

not really trying to defend elemental here but maybe i am...

...the thing about "great graphics" is it makes everything far more intense for children.   as "great" as puss in boots: the last wish looked to me,.. my kids had nightmares from it.  i can show my kids all sorts of things from the 80's and 90's (like the original star wars) but the very comparable thing from today (star wars episode 9) is just too intense to be watched by a child.

elemental may look "bad" to an adult but i know my kids won't care.  ..they'll actually probably like it more for it's lack of detail.

I mean that's not really the issue.

Most of the trailer looks great even, but for some reason the fire people look like they have a bit of a different art style and it looks they're doing bad things to the overall picture.

Elemental Teaser Trailer Reveals a New Stunning Pixar World

It's not best looking movie ever or anything, but it looks totally fine for the most part.

It just seems like the lighting off the fire people is way too intense.

just finished the trailer,.. it honestly looks surprisingly good.   i think they picked a pretty smart direction with this franchise to make it not about the game (a generic racing movie) but about the player.  it's a unique take in the genre that both highlights the game without having any particular reason to be beholden to it.

Yeah I was surprised how well it seems to balance respecting the game and mocking the absurdity of it. Might make a profit.
