To be honest a big factor is probably that PS5s were shipped out of Japan for a while. It was the cheapest place to buy a PS5 and scalpers were pretty desperate.

Probably looking at 2 years of backed up sales.

Crazy that there isn't a TLoU part 2 on PS5. But I guess the BC PS4 version is good enough. I wonder how much the show will boost sales. I can easily see it reaching 15 million now.

And thats the reason why Sony shouldn't bother buying SE. Because they suck. Honestly, they do. I dont understand why people love them. How much good will can they carry from the PS1/PS2 days

It's not really the PS1/PS2 days. Final Fantasy XIV is huge. Final Fantasy XVI is looking incredibly good.

Square Enix is pretty much propped up by 3 franchises. (Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, and Dragon Quest). All of them are still decent sized franchises, and still exactly the kind of thing Sony would want under their belt. 

But they don't have much else that's big. Lots of A, AA titles, which frankly would be nice if Sony made more of.


But at the same time, feels like Square Enix is on a bit of a destruction path. They're trying to chase after blockchain.

Maybe Sony will acquire Square Enix for Final Fantasy extremely cheaply in a few years....

SE is still pretty good and have a lot of big fanchises people care about.     plus SE would probably benefit a lot by being under sony's leadership.

Growth in PlayStation 5 hardware spending drove the February hardware market gains. PS5 was the best-selling hardware platform in units and dollars over both the February 2023 and 2023 YTD time periods. YTD HW spending is now 29% higher when compared to the same period in 2022.

The Last of Us: Part I rose 5 spots on the February chart, placing 6th after ranking 11th in January. The Last of Us: Part II returned to the top twenty in February, finishing 18th overall following a #41 placement in January.

Apparently ps5 set a new record for a playstation console sales during February in the US. It sold over the previous record holder PS2 which sold 533k. So PS5 sold over 533k last feb

Hogwarts is a serious console mover for PS5 it seems. I wonder if Jedi will certainly move some consoles as well.

PlayStation 5 hardware unit sales have now surpassed those of PlayStation 4 on a time-aligned basis (29 months in market).
