Xbox Activision Blizzard CRAZY Information (Will XBOX Sell ?) - YouTube

His twitter is locked down after this post.

But apparently there are industry pundits that think MS would sell Xbox off if the deal were blocked.

Wow. I didn't realize it was that extreme.

How the heck could xbox survive if it was spun off? Their whole business model as of late has been to spend Microsoft money and worry about breaking even later.

On the other hand, perhaps industry pundits don't know as much as one would hope.

What if MS turned around and sold Zenimax to Sony?

That would be crazy, but then again so would selling off Xbox.

lulz.

personally i think MS wouldn't sell xbox if they don't get activision.   far too extreme.   who would they even sell to?  who has a ton of money and a desire to be in this space.  apple would do their own thing imo and not buy xbox.  too off brand for apple.   so who's left?  samsung?

i could see MS's studios doing well in an auction but not xbox itself.

...but really, i think this is just pundits being pundits.  not like they have some amazing insight into MS.  it's just them projecting onto MS their own opinions.   a big nothing-burger.

The most irritating part of all this, is how long this takes.

We're like 14 months post acquisition announcement, and we're still likely a few months if not more away from it closing or being blocked.

i think it's the best part.  MS probably doesn't dare make another big aquisition while trying to get ABK.   the longer it takes the longer it takes for MS to take even more games away from playstation.

QuoteMicrosoft Corp. and Activision Blizzard Inc. met with the UK's antitrust watchdog this week to hash out proposals over concerns their $69 billion deal would hamper competition in the video game industry, according to people familiar with the discussions, as global regulators step up their scrutiny of the controversial deal.

Lawyers for Microsoft attended a private hearing with the Competition and Markets Authority in London on Monday to discuss the regulator's provisional findings and assess the feasibility of proposed remedies, said the people, who asked not to be named discussing a confidential matter.

Microsoft also said it's willing to pay a third-party monitor to oversee their compliance, the people said, a measure designed to relieve the CMA from having to devote resources to make sure the tech giant follows through on its promises.

Spokespeople at Microsoft and CMA declined to comment. Activision Blizzard separately met with the CMA on Wednesday on the proposals. A further hearing with Sony Corp., the main opponent to the deal, is scheduled for next week, the people said.

The London meetings were led by the case's independent inquiry group, with support from the case team, said the people. The CMA will publish its final decision on the merger on April 26.

The companies plan to submit a revised proposals to EU authorities this week following the closed-door discussions, the people said.

I think I'm feeling 70% sure that this will go through now.

Personal feelings not based on anything concrete.

Why? Really? They can't possibly see why?

Why would they wouldn't want to see their biggest competitor buy their most important supplier. Because whats that Activision is to sony, a supplier.

Sony doesn't have 80% market share. I'd love to know what that number is referring to.

All these people keep acting like fanboys and I just don't get it.

It's specifically Sony's share in Europe (if you exclude Nintendo).

I'm pretty sure MS was arguing that if Nintendo is part of the same market, then they're proof you don't need CoD to compete.
And that if they weren't part of the same market, then Sony owns 80% of the market.
