Quantumania will not be that high lol. It's only $225 million through Sunday.

edt: lol you got your number from boxofficemojo. They suck nowadays.
Their number is including all the estimates through Monday. They adjust as actual numbers come through. So it might go down but they seem to have been decent with way of water

Deadline predicts Ant Man will make $30 million this weekend, based off early numbers. That would be the worst drop in Marvel history. Maybe next weekend will be better, but it's set to not make a profit at the box office.

Disney sure lucked out with Avatar. As one gravy train ends, a new one begins. Hopefully Cameron has enough power to stop Disney from oversaturating it.

Checking ant man's box office has been my guilty pleasure as of late. Cocaine Bear almost beat it yesterday ($1.7 million ant man, $1.6 million cocaine bear).

Good. Time for something new. Not the same formula over and over

Yeah I agree. Let the MCU die, and let the DC universe die (again) with it. Give us something new

They are just oversaturating box office and tv screens with MCU content that its just too much.  Before it was always a couple movies a year and they were really good quality.  I hope they take the criticisms to heart and pull back on the content.

There are 2 main things i think that are affecting the box office of MCU

1- the story is done. At least for most people they got their closer with end game. Its what all the MCU films built up to. After that, its just... eh...

2- its just too much content to follow about characters nobody cares about. Im not gonna follow the loki tv show, or gonna follow the wandavision tv show. Or watch the eternal or shang shi or whatever. They could have an a very interesting arc for thor, but decided to fudge it up right away with love and thunder

I think x men might save them. But I doubt they will be able to outdo the older xmen films, specially the likes of days of future past.

I think the spiderverse might actually gain some traction, if Sony releases some actually good films

I'm just tired of the "universe" approach.  just make movies that stand on their own.   until then I'm done with them.

Trust me. I hate them too. I wish we would go back to the days of one and done movies. Movies like seven, pulp fiction, forest gump and so on. You know, movies with an actual plot, story and good characters

I love a sequel here and there, but cinematic universes just suck.

I also hate the humor that Marvel popularized. It was fun in Iron Man and it's still fun in a few of their movies, but now everyone does it.

I watched quite a bit until Endgame.

After that I feel like I stopped caring.

I'm not even completely sure why.

Maybe lower stakes after Endgame.

Feels like a large number of the movies and tv series being headed up by random characters.

I don't know if I posted this already here, or if I just chatted with my friends about this.  But here's my feelings on MCU:

I remember when I went to watch Endgame.  I liked it, felt Infinity War was better, but it was enjoyable and I did like the ending.  AFTER I watched Endgame though, I felt; empty.  Not happy, not in awe, not "Oh this was the greatest thing ever", just, depressed.  It was the end of a story that I was heavily invested in for 11 years.  Did I watch every Marvel movie?  No, I skipped Civil War and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (Maybe other things), but for 11 years I was on the hype train.

I remember when Iron Man came out, I went to get a ride home with my sister who was working at a community center and one of her co-workers, who I'd call a "normie", was like "I can't believe they destroyed [insert car that got crushed when Tony was prototyping things" and I was thinking "That's what stood out to you?  Not that they managed to make Iron Man with all his flying and stuff work on screen?".  I mention that since up until Iron Man they had issues with special effects for Superheroes and they nailed it.  I also bring that up since regular people started to enjoy these movies and, while they were comic accurate, everyone could enjoy them.  We saw the Nick Fury cameo and me and my friends were hyped.  I watched all of phase 1 and enjoyed all of it.  Me and my friends enjoyed Iron Man 2.  I thought First Avengers was a great 80s syle action movie, and there really hasn't been one since.  I enjoyed Thor; "Another!" (throws glass on the floor).  Though re-watching Thor 1 a few years ago... esh.  This then brings everything ahead to Avengers.

I remember when we went to watch Avengers.  It was me and a few friends who I had recently met while working at EBGames.  This was before buying ticket seats, so we bought our tickets, waited in line and then found decent seats in the front row, front and center.  We were all so hyped after watching Avengers.  We were quoting the movie, re-enacting scenes, having a good time, and we were all so hyped.  We couldn't wait for the next stuff.  Years go by, I remember watching Thor Dark World the day I bought my PS4.  Winter Soldier was great.  Saw Guardians of the Galaxy with a co-worker from my grocery store I worked at and with my friend from Ebgames.  Watched Avengers 2, we enjoyed it.  Didn't watch Civil War, and thinking back, I didn't actually watch anything from that phase until Infinity Wars dropped.  I enjoyed Infinity War.  I was hyped to watch Endgame.  But by this point, unknowingly, my interest had waded.

I didn't watch anything after Avengers 2 and before Infinity Wars.  I saw Black Panther on a flight to Italy, I saw a bit of the ending to Dr. Strange on T.V. a few years ago after Endgame, and as I mentioned; I didn't watch Cvil War, Spider-man nor Guardians of the Galaxy 2.  I knew enough from the comics and cartoons to keep up with the story, but I attributed to me not watching these movies due to timing (I got really busy at my app job, got let go, and then went back to school for my Bachelor of Education).  I did watch Captain Marvel with my friend after Infinity War, it was meh.  Not good or bad.  But I only watched it with one of my friends.  My entourage who I watched Avengers 1 with, and other movies, watched it on their own time.  Which circles back to my depressing feeling after Endgame.

The emptiness I felt with Endgame, came after I walked out of the movie.  I enjoyed it, not as much as Infinity War, but I enjoyed it, it was a good ending to an 11 year old running story.  But when I walked out, it was late at night, it was a weeknight, and the theatre was empty.  It was almost as if no one was in the actual cinema watching the movie.  There were no kids/teenagers talking about the movie, no one was hyped, no one was quoting from the movie, no one was acting out their favourite scenes.  My two friends, who I didn't watch the first Avengers with were kind of there.  We didn't talk much about it after.  We just went home.  The hype I had when I watched the first Avengers was gone.  My friends who I watched and got hyped watching the first Avengers with were gone.  I still talk to all but 2 of them, so it's not like we stopped being friends or anything, we just stopped watching the movies together.  So while Endgame was an event, we couldn't be bothered to make it an event.  There was no talk between us about what could happen.  There was no us sitting down playing games like we used to and get hyped with the movies.  There was no "Hey, Endgame is coming out, let's get tickets".    It was just assumed Endgame was going to be great, and that was the end of it.  So I left that cinema, empty, cause for 11 years of my life, we all looked forwards to watching these movies.  Now all the hype, good times, and just overall being nerdy ended in the span of minutes.  After 11 years, it occrued to me; that chapter of my life was over and I was sad.

I lost all will to want to watch these Marvel movies.  Will I still watch them?  Yeah, I saw Shang Chi and Eternals with one of my friends who I watched Endgame with.  We both enjoyed them.  We probably enjoyed them more than most people did, apparently.  I went to watch Multiverse of Madness and Quantumania with 2 close friends who I watched the first Avengers with.  We enjoyed both (We apparently enjoyed Quantumania more than most).  But my want and need to see these movies are gone.  11 years ago, we would plan to go watch these movies, now?  I went to watch all these films because I was asked to go watch them.  As I said to my friend for Mutiiverse of Madness and Quantumania; "I'm done with these movies, but you know, I'm here for the ride".

Not sure if it'll be better than the Eddie Murphy one.
