They actually increase their forecast for this year up to 19 million (from 18). I cant find the post where we were discussing if ps5 sales and demand was dropping, flat or increasing. But this is clear that demand for PS5 is still high.

Honestly they have supported it with a lot of great games so far, and more is coming. Makes sense that demand is up

It generally fluctuates between ~10% and 20%.

25% is probably the highest its ever been. It is partially due to third party sales being down (92.7 vs 86.5), but it's mostly due to first party sales being up (20.8 vs 11.3), relative to last year.

i saw that on era.  i'm sure most of that comes down to how many they can manufacture right now.  we'll see if demand keeps up with supply soon enough.

sorry for being pessimistic.   it's just that every one else in the games industry is seeing a "degrowth" pretty in line with the recession the fed is manufacturing.  it's a bit hard to believe that only sony can escape that.  would be fantastic if they did but also surprising.

Not sure about "every one else".

so might as well talk about this:

30% of PS5s monthly active users have never used a PS4 and market share in the US is increasing significantly

can only speak for myself but i wonder how much of my story is part of this story since the metric is MAU:
- i've been on playstation a long time
- technically i have fewer ps5's in my household then ps4's because i bought 2 ps4's.   not sure i'll get a second ps5 so long as netflix continues to works so well on ps4.
- MAU has jumped from 1 to 3.

The jump is because my kids are finally of an age that they can play video games.  i mean,. i guess they could for a while as we were playing on ps4 but back then what they could play was quite limited so they always played as "guests".  i got my kids account's of their own because without one they can't really have their own game saves in a lot of games.   the game that specifically got me to make them accounts was castle crashers where there guest account's progress was reset every time you restarted the game.

i'm sure i'm not the first dad to have kids but having been a kid at the exact moment that the NES launched there are bound to be a lot of guys like me out there that have hit an age where their kids are big enough to play with them now.

I'm rather curious on how they expect to sell so many PS5's.

They are aiming to sell/maybe ship almost as many PS5's by the end of March, as they did during the holiday season.
6.2 million compared to the 7.1 million they sold last quarter.
Either they are expecting insane sales, or they are going to be stuffing the supply chain with PS5's.

It sure seems like supply issues are behind us. Let's see what PS5 can do!
