Does banter annoy you?

I'm seeing more criticism for games like Horizon, Forspoken that there is too much banter.

But personally it's not something that I find bugs me.

How about you?

Nope I love it. It adds so much more to lore/story. Sometimes if it's just random comments that are abundant it's weird especially if the protagonist is by themselves. But ultimately I like it

I love good banter.

I hate when it feels handholdy. In gow boy kept saying "what's over there" to try and make me notice things. Same with gow/horizon solving puzzles for you.

most every game has something of the such to direct people.

I prefer banter to some of the alternatives like high contrast vision modes or explanation points on maps.

it's also a much better/natural way to get story than audio logs or reading shame.

If it's an accessibility feature, then it should have a toggle like other features. The forgotten city did this with puzzle tips.

I only watched like 30 seconds before turning it off for fear of spoilers...

....but since the point seemed to be "while solving puzzles shut up for a minute" then I'll agree to that point.

I'm pretty sure uncharted had this option.  100% shadow of the tomb raider had it. I hear forespoken has it.  GoW should have had it too.  I specifically looked for it and was disappointed not to find it.

puzzles (especially in non-puzzle games) seem to be a thing that can really frustrate gamers that can't see the solution to the point of quitting the game.  I love banter as a way to help without solving or forcing people to the internet.  ..but as a puzzle fan I'd prefer to solves things for myself thank you very much.

There is a feature called puzzle timing but i am quite certain it doesn't affect puzzle hint timing.

it does not. on puzzles where you need to do 2+ things in a set period of time you can be allotted more time.

No. Bad dialogue annoys me. So if the writing of the banter sucks, or is out of character, then it annoys me.

Not every character needs to be Nathan drake.

ND just popularized banter by adding it to uncharted.  ...or at least I can't think of any games that did it before uncharted.

but I wouldn't call "banter" being nathon drake.  banter was amazing in portal 2 for instance.  made the game really.

dear god does portal need to be ported to PS5.
