Quote from: Horizon on Oct 20, 2022, 06:13 PMI've been taking a look on linkedin (assuming numbers are close) it's clear Sony are going to lean on Naughty Dog, Insomniac,Guerrilla and Santa Monica for output this gen. ND have around 720 employees, Insomniac 480, Guerrilla 402 and Santa Monica 365. I suspect they plan to build Firesprite to be around 350 one day. Sucker Punch definitely would be up there but they seem reluctant to grow massively but I think they'll hit 200 soon. The rest of Sony studios are all under 150 and it seems we'll be lucky to get 2 games from some devs such as Bend. Housemarque and Bluepoint do seem very productive considering their size but Bluepoints new project might test them and we might not see it for years.
I don't think Linkedin is very accurate. It seems to be an undercount for some studios and an overcount for Naughty Dog in particular.

Team Asobi has 8 on Linkedin, but we learned in a recent interview that they have grown to 60, and want to grow up to 100 people.

There are a few interviews where Naughty Dog people have said they have around 300, despite LinkedIn having well over double that number. Although I wouldn't be surprised if they grew quite a bit in the past year.

Job Application for Senior Producer at PlayStation Global

QuoteSony PlayStation is building a new internal game development team in partnership with PSS Visual Arts, an award-winning, full-production group, that specializes in Animation, Motion Capture, Cinematics, Art, and Scanning. This is the same world-class team known for its contributions to the Last of Us franchise!

This high visibility project is being developed in collaboration with Naughty Dog.

makes sense to me.

instead of having each studio have motion capture have 1 studio that does nothing but motion capture.   seems like a good way to get cost staving and evaluate the quality of all studios's output.  i guess this could create the potential for bottlenecks but i think it makes sense overall.   it's kind of like what MS was saying that games are no longer built by just one studio.  projects are passed around from team to team.   just needs to have a strong willed director to ensure the game doesn't feel like a "paint by numbers" end result.

It's a silly thing and I've brought it up like 3x times already.

But why isn't Sony including Haven in their PlayStation Studios line up?

Are they revamping their website to include PlayStation mobile studios?

I think ND might be over 500 now. Firesprite are close to 300. Santa Monica are over 300 now. Bend are only just over a 100. I think all the rest are bang on. We forgot Valkyrie who are around 50.

So sony have for next year and beyond

Forespoken

Not a bad list so far. Am I forgetting something? (Other than PSVR games)

not a great list either.  if you are including other 3rd party developed games then i guess you need to add stellar blade too.

Back in March, they posted a job opening for talent acquisition
QuoteHaving grown to over 300 people (we call ourselves 'Sprites'!), this is a fantastic opportunity to directly contribute to our continued growth, while also supporting in the creation and implementation of improvements to our recruitment process.

They've hired a lot of people since then, but some have also left.
Hard to say where they're at now for sure.
