That's good.

From the outside looking in, it felt like Elden Ring took more of Horizon's thunder than botw did.

its so good. There is a lot of side stuff that i feel like isn't really necessary, but most of it is amazing. I still get lost just looking around the environments especially the beach areas.

was inevitable.

Nintendo fanboys and MSony fanboys are highly isolated from each other. Zelda being on a different system means horizon could maintain the attention of rest of the market.

eldin ring overlaps biggly with horizon.

anyways, my friends list is actually pretty split between the two but also it's the only two games anyone is playing.

eldin ring obviously winning the media though.

Almost an hour just to copy the game. Crazy slow compared to ps4.

The intro is really bad lol. Lots of exposition and tutorials.

Graphics are very clean which is great. Her face looks a bit puffy in some animations though. Only like 30 minutes in.

I just got to the part where you see there are 3 snake robots, not just one. You liked the stuff leading up to this?
I think I'm also getting Halo Infinite vibes which is throwing me off. That game had a very similar opening "goal."

Dear god the conversations are incredibly impressive. The first game was average/poor with their animations and editing, but this might be the best ever.

They feel as if they were all created as individual cutscenes.

I hope they do a gdc talk about it.

People naturally walk around, interact with the environment, and bring multiple people into the conversation. The very first time I had a dialogue option in the game I didn't notice for a sec because it didn't ever need to switch to the interview style camera angle.

Witcher 3 was the gold standard when it released and this blows it out of the water. Don't remember how well RDR2 handled it.

Hopefully the rest of the game keeps this quality up.

Edt: a background npc just cut her finger. Very cool.

I'm loving this game. In some ways it's worse than the first and other ways it's better, but I really really loved the first so ::)

The story is potentially the biggest downgrade. The first just had so much weight to everything with the machine apocalypse. Meanwhile the individual characters are pretty great in Forbidden West, but the bigger plot is laughably bad. I'm hoping there will be a twist/revelation that makes it make sense, but it still won't be as good as the first.

Spoilers for the first game
Spoiler for Hidden:
In the first you keep asking "but how did humans beat the machines?" and eventually you get the incredible reveal that they didn't beat the machines and life had to be restarted. It starts off with a cool question and makes it even cooler.

In Forbidden West, it has a dumb question that feels stupid just to ask.

The new climbing system is also better and worse. You can climb over everything that is climbable, kinda like botw, except you have to use your scanner to know what is climbable. The old method of having clearly marked ledges and handholds almost blended into the world better than the AR lines. Does allow you a lot more freedom though which is great. The big problem is that it's glitchy. Sometimes it will just not let you jump or climb up a ledge. It'll also just not grab onto edges sometimes, even when the jump is part of a linear section. I had tons of issues at a specific ruin.

I don't know how much I have left but I think I'm in the mid game. I now have access to the entire map I believe. Was frustrating having invisible walls blocking me until I did a main quest.

Edt: at 25% and 25 hours in the stats screen.

Yeah I can't say the story is way better than the first but I still really like it.

And I just finished main story last night
