i work in industrial software.  I'm in a meeting about their plan to replace all sales away from money and to the purchase and consumption of "CompanyBucks".   Is there some magic reason people spend more money if they buy and spend "CompanyBucks" instead of actual money?!?   The cost of this plan is likely to cost our company 10's of millions of dollars to implement across all our software platforms and it feels soo incredibly pointless.

I thought that was a fad from 10 years ago. Glad xbox stopped doing that.

i think "companyBuck" works for games like rocket league or fortnight in that i'd much rather use an in-game store for DLC purchases than the playstation store.   if i can't get a good view about what i'm buying i refuse to buy and you just can't get that from the external store.

...but again, i'm industrial software.   all of our sales is heavily negotiated with quid-pro-quo elements of "if i buy your software for 5 million dollars you will prioritize the development of such-and-such feature that i want".    This whole "companyBucks" thing is just going to make these RFPs so annoying to read.

dear god, we're up to 20 mintues now in the Q&A session talking about "what if a customer tries to buy the software for one day?"

we have exactly 0 software packages that are useful on a single day consumption basis...
