Oh I see. Well they're still doing the same loss-lead-strategy as ever, that hasn't changed. Its just that they're making so much profit from other sources now that the loss from launching a new console doesn't make a dent.

Yeah, but it seems with GaaS games, subs, and digital store sales and better first party output (specially cross gen games) their strategy seems to continue monetising revenue from the old gen even if the new one is selling gangbusters. MAU is more important than ever because those users continue to generate profit.

Those 47 million PS+ subs are without a doubt covering a lot of the loses PS5 hardware units are causing.
