Seems like Sony haven't actually given out any refunds to people who've asked for one through the page they set up yet. If you go to PS support it says please use that page if you want a Cyberpunk refund, but apparently if you contact them via live chat you'll get a refund instantly while nothing is happening from that page.

Classic Sony.

I think we all knew this was coming. Also still no refunds coming yet from Sony, wonder what's taking so long.

Game is down to 78 now on Opencritic too. I also have been reflecting on my experience with the game overall on PS5, and I think I'd have to give it a 7/10 on a 10 point scale, maybe it'd even be a 6 if I was feeling harsh about all the issues I came across. Its just the more I think about it after putting it down, the more I think about the game's bad stuff, and I mean the core of the game and its design decisions, nothing that patches could fix.

And then I think about other stuff which deserves docking points for, like there only being 4 romance "options", except there only being one option really to match a player's preference as there is a straight guy, a gay guy, a straight girl, a gay girl. Its fine I guess, but them being straight or gay is never that important, so why not just give players options and make them either canonically bi or just make them player-sexual like a lot of games do. It wouldn't be as much of an issue if they weren't so unbalanced, the girls clearly had a lot more effort put into them, and the gay guy option is kind of insulting in some ways, I can't look past it. Then there's the known issues of transphobia and the game's ridiculous adverts.

The open world just being so bland and lifeless in terms of interactivity, I can't help but feel a Rise of the Tomb Raider style design would have done this game wonders, I don't get why this had to be open world (well I do, it sells), but from a design perspective it just doesn't suit the game that CDPR clearly wanted to make. Its just main quests, side quests, then bags of filler.

The game stinks, it really does. There's a lot of great stuff, amazing game design in places, a great story and generally amazing cast of characters, immersive dialogue and voice acting quality etc. but so many other games can brag the same stuff without all the stink. I was into the world, the lore, the story, the characters as I was playing but now I've moved on from the game and I'm looking at it retrospectively, it was all pretty forgettable honestly, I've played many games that were much more interesting just this year.

I don't think I'd recommend this game to anyone, even after its fixed. If you're a big fan of games like this and you want it then I'd say go for it, but I'd never try and convince someone on the fence.

Ouch.

I will play this game one day. Maybe after a few patches it'll be similar to Sleeping Dogs. That game was story focused and I loved it.

Well I still give the game a good score overall, I enjoyed and even loved a lot of my time with it. Its just far from the GOTY contender I was expecting to play (when looking past how currently broken it is at least)

I say I don't think I'd recommend the game to anyone, but I also wouldn't recommend anyone to avoid it. There's so many highs and lows and my opinions are so mixed that I have no idea how someone else might feel when the play the game. I could recommend the game to a friend and it turns out they hated it, or I could tell a friend to avoid it when they would have loved it. Its a weird one, there's not many games that are so all over the place like this.

What are things a patch couldn't fix?

Anything to do with the core design of the game like the open world not being compelling, the life-path choice being pretty pointless, disappointing lack of control over V and the development of the story, some poor writing, so many stereotypical representations of minority groups, vehicles being on the whole pretty shame to drive.

Obviously most things can be changed in a patch, I was more talking about things that aren't just to be fixed like bugs and glitches, things that would be basically redesigning the game and introducing big changes post-launch, which doesn't happen often for non-GAAS big releases.

the-pi-guy

Pffft anything can change in a patch.

In fact the next cyberpunk patch will just make the whole game The Witcher 3. That's how they'll get back into good graces.  8)

77 Opencritic, PC meta down to 86.

Legend

New patch today fixes the save issue at least.
