Rank your excitement for this gen's launch compared to last

I was definitely more excited for last, but my hype has been steadily growing. This last week is going to be crazy with all the zeitgeist.

I'm way more excited.

Probably largely due to being involved right away. Last gen I waited over a year. Although I got a fantastic deal due to working at Walmart.

I was waaaaaaayyy more excited for the last one.

But back then I the need to upgrade was paramount. Ps3 couldn't handle cross gen games properly.

This gen i decided to stay with ps4 till at least a year. Games from 3rd parties are cross gen. And even some Sony games to my suprise are cross gen.

So ps4 can handle those games. I dont even have a 4k monitor atm. I'll stay cross gen till a price cut, and maybe even hopefully a 2tb system.

I'll add this for me personally.
PS5 > PS4 > XSX* > NSW > Wii U >>>>>>> Xbox One


*Largely comes down to Bethesda + great hardware. Aside from that, it's eh.

Listing xbox one down that low makes me think back to ouya.

I remember on launch day just having the "wow, I'm missing out on a new system" feeling. I of course ended up not getting one, but it was so funky back then back when people thought it had a chance.

I'm about as excited as last gen. I think I was probably feeling more excited in 2023 but that's because I was still young and got unreasonably excited for things like getting a new console.

However there's much more about this gen that I'm anticipating: a better launch lineup, SSD goodness, dualsense a much bigger step up than ds4, 3d audio and other fun new features.

If I was to compare, I'd say the graphical and power relative leap feels similar, amount of cool new features on PS5 seems about similar but then ontop of that we have the SSD huge leap and the dualsense, which are probably the top 2 things for most people.

about the same level for me.  ..which is to say more than i thought i'd be for ps5.   

as you guys probably remember i really, really thought ps4pro was going to become the base unit and ps5 would become the premium unit and itterative hardware would become the norm.   aka i thought ps5 was going to be as lame and boring as xbox series x.  i'm pleasantly surprised at sony's strategy on ps5 and that makes me excited for it.

Less.  I had a PS4 pre-ordered right away. I don't even think I'm going to get a PS5 until the PS6 comes out (I'd buy a PS6 instead)

More excited for the console because the system is comparatively more advanced than the PS4 was in 2013 and launches with games I actually want to play day 1, I didn't get a PS4 until Bloodborne was out.

Less excited about the state and perspective of the industry. Corporate consolidation, streaming, subscription services, etc.

PC gaming.  Miles and Horizon are going to ps4.  RE8 s going to PC.  I can't think of anything else in the next 3 years that's been announced that I want.  Final Fantasy 16 looks meh to me and will be on PC after a year.  Persona 6, but I have a hunch it will be on PC.  SF6 will be on PC.
