That's fugly lol. At least it's interesting though. They could've made the colors less contrasty I guess...

299 is a great price. I'm sure casuals will buy this thinking it's a hot new thing.
At least this means Sony has to price ps5 low now, and come out soon.

Do you think they had the colours like this due to ps5 looking like it does?

These consoles will sell out at launch anyway and then it will become widely known how series S performs compared to the others. If people still think its a good deal then it'll do well for years, if not it could slow down in sales quite fast.

This entire thing is nuts. How did any of this happen?  Out of all the crazy next gen plans I would have believed. This is not one of them.

Series S gets leaked hours before announcement.
And MS announces a console in the middle of the night.

How does this happen?

Was this the plan the whole time? "Yeah we are going to announce the thing in the middle of the night". Sounds good.

Did someone wake up Phil?  "Well since our system already got leaked.  Again.  Let's just announce the darn thing."

This whole thing boggles the imagination.

I seriously can't believe this happened.

It got leaked by prominent MS journalists with direct ties to the company. Sorry but I'm questioning this being an accident.

Maybe to catch Sony sleeping?

one thing is for sure,.. hard core gamers have recieved this much better than i expected.   clearly "winning" is more important than anything.

I think it's an amazing console for 2021. Lots of people don't have 4k tvs and this is a cheap option for them to still get the full experience.

Beyond that though, will this thing actually be supported? Come 2025 when Series X and PS5 are starting to feel old, Series S will feel ancient. Will games skip it? Will games be missing features? Will games resemble switch ports where sometimes it's arguably not worth it?

It'll be interesting to see the full marketing. Will people buy it expecting the system to last the whole gen, or will they buy it expecting to replace it with Series X in a few years?

Weirdest/worst reveal ever.

No way. Otherwise the video would have been ready and shared officially by now. It's a clusterfudge with people just seeing things from random sources. Also controlled leaks almost never happen.

Hard core gamers made it a bannable offense to think cross gen support could adversely affect next gen. I don't think anything has meaning anymore.

Yep I think practically every Series S owner will want another console shortly or at least a few years down the line. Sony gotta convince them that PS5 instead of Series X should be their main console.

games.  games still drive sales.   if they have a series s and think they need a new one sony is in a good position.   what ms needs to do is make the series s not feel like an incompetent console 4 years from now.   ...and their answer is cloud streaming.

the number of people i see guessing the ps5 digital will be $499 and the ps5 $599 is mind boggleing to me.   how can anyone thing ps5 will be more than series x when having a smaller BoM...

i'm getting more and more convinced this was a controlled leak.

we all knew the hard part of series s was how to explain how it fits in with series x.   well,.. they just simply aren't doing it.   they showed the console and the price.   the have a few listed benefits and a sizzle reel and simply aren't having any discussion about the downsides like needing to show a gameplay comparison.  this is basically the dream scenario for the series s announcement.  it coming off in the media as if this is identical to series x in performance just without a disc drive ala ps5 digital.

this soo had to be planned.

@both you and Der

I still don't think it's a controlled leak, but yeah it's being handled pretty well. People are forced to research it themselves.

It appears controlled because MS had all of this ready for next week anyway. They've just done their announcement earlier.

Controlled leaks aren't really a thing, and this certainly isn't one.
