"Impostor syndrome" sucks. I deal with it as a game dev and it seams everyone else does too.

As a solo dev I have released a game on PS4, I have made more money than the average indie developer, and I have been a full time game developer for 7 years.

Yet it's impossible to not feel like an impostor at times. My first ~5 years as a dev were horrible in this regard, even though I'd spend most of my days sitting at a desk with a PS4 dev kit. Releasing Twisty Puzzle Simulator improved things a lot but whenever things get tough, it's easy to feel like an impostor again.

On the film side, check out this video at around 15 minutes. I stumbled upon this director's youtube channel and it's really interesting seeing his take on things.

Do you ever suffer from impostor syndrome?

Often.

I've always done well in my programming assignments with a few exceptions. And I still don't feel cut out to be a software engineer.

I get it less when there are incompetent people around me.

Helping others also helps. Reminds me how far I have come.

Funny seeing even the Shazam director deal with it though.

I do with 3d sculpting. I dont think Im that great but people seem to like my stuff.  I get commision request sometimes and had a few job offers. Then other people say their inspired by me, and Im like, I dont even know what I'm doing. These people over here (artststion zbrush central) are a million times better than me. I wouldn't even dare post my stuff to either site.
