Microsoft went all out with Kinect before it released later that year.
I only started properly caring about gaming in around 2012/2013. Before then I was just your classic casual player who didn't care about e3 and didn't read/ watch anything online about games. Most things that happened before 2012 in the game industry I don't know much about.

I haven't seen any E3 stuff before 2013.

It helped for me that E3 was broadcast on TV. I saw the news and some conferences before I cared that much. 2010 might have been the first year I started really paying attention to the industry.

edt: yeah the 3DS was what got me really involved.

edtedt: also had gamepro since I was really young.

I'm really wondering when I started watching e3.
Either E3 2008 or 2009 was likely .

Yeah I remember one of my friends talking about watching it on tv. Its sad that it isn't anymore, but I guess it makes no difference with twitch around now.

Well it makes sense doesn't it? Accents change pronunciation of words.

I guess, but it could confuse some people that the other accents also change pronunciation

Sony 2017 was actually great for what it was. Extremely well paced and good showings from all the games. If it was a full 90 minutes instead of 60, and kept up that pacing, with a couple of more new announcements, I think it would be regarded as one of the best.

And imo it definitely does not deserve to be anywhere near last on Legend's list. There's been so much more worse than that.

How!?...

If you took out the rapid fire VR section, it was just:
Uncharted Lost Legacy trailer
Horizon Frozen Wilds announcement
Days Gone gameplay
Monster Hunter World reveal
Sotc remaster reveal
Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite trailer
COD WW2 trailer
God of War trailer
Detroit trailer
Destiny 2 trailer
Spiderman gameplay

Lost Legacy trailer was ok. Nothing surprising or exciting though.
Frozen Wilds was DLC. Again nice to have in the show but not big.
Days Gone demo was pretty similar to last year's. Not that interesting.
MHW was great.
Sotc was good and awesome but it's small and a remaster. Not big news.
Marvel VS Capcom is a low point.
COD is COD. Trailer was standard.
GoW was great.
Detroit trailer was ok. Again nothing unexpected or big with it though.
Destiny 2 was ok/good.
Spiderman gameplay was good/great.

Well exactly, that's what I meant by great for what it was. My opinion of the LL, COD, Detroit and Spiderman stuff is more positive than yours. I thought the spiderman showing at the end in particular was amazing. It was lots of good/ great gameplay and trailers imo. They all just needed to be a bit longer, and there needed to be a couple more big announcements thrown in there for it to have been a great conference overall.

For me its easily better than the two above it on your list, especially if you count the VR bits too.

The bottom three could all swap positions. They're really close imo.

At least we agree on it being the worst Sony conference this gen, right?

Yeah but it's quite close to 2014 for me.

Bloodborne was announced in 2014, as well as LBP3 and some other announcements.

I guess I put way more focus on new game reveals than you do.

Are you trying to argue that Bloodborne and LBP3 are much bigger than MHW and SOTC? I think with the other 2014 announcements that one was better, but its not by too big of an amount. 2014 was a fair amount better for announcements, but I think 2017 was better for gameplay showings. Which is why 2017 isn't too far behind.

I do put a big emphasis on announcements, which is why 2017 was a disappointment compared to 2015 and 2016 to me. I was saying before that 17 was great for what it was; i.e. limited announcements and just good showings for games we already knew about. I thought it did that very well.

100% they're bigger imo. MHW is a multiplat and SOTC is a remake. To be honest though I personally didn't think MHW was a big thing so I'm sure that's clouding my judgement. I think I made jokes in the live thread that it was time for a bathroom break  ::)

I am a bit hypocritical aren't I?  :P

2016 was incredible for first party announcements yet I also put it kinda low on my list.

I'm interested to see how this year goes. If they have no announcements but go all in on the games it could still be really good. Nintendo had nothing but Zelda in 2016 and yet I thought they won E3 that year.
