Hardware sales in the US was largely flat YoY in April, and software sales was down approximately 10%, but bear in mind that sales in April 2017 was boosted by the Switch. The PS4 got off a significantly stronger start compared to other consoles thanks to Sony's God of War. All eyes are now on the Switch's software lineup from 2Q.

The relative sales volumes of game hardware was:

PS4: 1.92
Switch: 1
XBox One: 0.79
3DS: 0.41

On the software side (digital not included):

Top sellers were God of War, Far Cry 5, Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 01: Variety Kit and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.

Hardware boost was monumental for April. WW first week sales were over 3m, so two week sales probably around 4m. Yeah, 2m sounds right for NPD. That's rather insane, more than double U4.

Lol dang I just noticed XB1 is so low but still up 20% YOY. Last April really was a woeful time for it.

Thought more about GoW. Uncharted 4 sold around 3 million worldwide by the May NPD tracking period (about 1 and a half weeks). US was around 900k, so it sold 2.1m elsewhere. God of War in the same time will be around 4 million, we know its not quite as popular as U4 elsewhere/ only just as popular, so it probably is around 2m.

It included digital for U4 too with the 2.7m sell through, and that was 900k NPD. With GoW selling over a million more, I think its safe to say it will be at least quite close to 2m without digital. If digital is massive it might fall to 1.5m.

NPD tracks digital now anyway, so it doesn't matter. With digital I think it'll be above 2m in the US.

This is also the first time PS4 or XB1 have broken 200k in April. Just shows how big this month was for PS4.
