Yeah, I'm pretty sure that guy is full of crud...

Or at the very least, got bad info.

Yeah, this is what that poster I linked was talking about. There is no reason for Barlog to go out of his way to convince a random person about the state of the game except to shoot down misinformation. No way full production didn't begin until after E3 because there is no way they'd have a full playthrough ready to go in 6 months.

And I don't want to be "that guy", but I couldn't help but notice that the first and only person to claim development issues with one of the PS4's most anticipated titles is running around the NeoGAF forums with a Master Chief avatar. Granted, it's a silly one, but it's Master Chief nonetheless

At least you aren't the guy with a Master Chief avatar, going around telling people there are issues with a PS4 game; while contradicting the devs.

"...but you know, it would be in Barlog's interest to lie".

No. It really wouldn't. Because the person you're claiming Barlog lied to was a random nobody on Twitter who made a joking comment because no new information about the game had been released for awhile. Barlog is infinitely better off keeping his mouth shut about the project than lying about its current state.

Plus Barlog went out of his way to say that they played through the game.  It wasn't even really part of the conversation.

Yeah. Like I said, it sounds to me like this guy is trying to reduce hype for the game pre-E3, because it's clearly getting attention, by saying it's not releasing any time soon and he figures he can play it off as just trying to be "informative" about "development issues" he heard from "a friend".

This guy is claiming the E3 demo of GOW last year was just a concept. Full game dev wasn't started until after the positive reception. Not going to be anywhere close to early 2018.

He might end up right about the date, but he obviously is wrong about the demo. Maybe he's bogus, or maybe he's confused since it was a vertical slice.
its full of shame since just 6 months after the full game was playable from start to end. Cory barlog himself said so.

On the one hand, I'm like "no duh".
On the other, I appreciate him coming out and laying it to rest.  I'm sure he's super busy, E3 time and all.

Japanese publishers coming back to console in a major way? - NeoGAF

Quoteexpect announcements at e3?http://time.com/4804768/playstation-...ro-psvr-sales/
Layden says the Japanese publishers are also coming back, listing off recent games like Resident Evil 7, Nioh, Nier: Automata, Persona 5 and Final Fantasy XV as examples. "That's super important for us," he says. "I think a lot of Japanese developers lost their way chasing the mobile games yen, if you will, but they're coming back to console in a major way. And speaking of, we'll have some big announcements at E3 in that precise vein."

That's what I like to hear.

I'm gonna predict 3 new Japanese game announcements.
At least 2 of them will be either developed in house at Sony Japan, or in tandem with another developer.
