Just fought a Stormbird and I was EXTREMELY underleveled but the kill was oh so worth it.

I used up pretty much all my supplies and fought it for a good 10-15 minutes lol. And that's just a random enemy in the game you can encounter...Crazy.

Yeah its amazing how you can come across what would be an epic boss fight in another game just be wondering around. I just fought a snapmaw for the first time and also attracted the attention of 3 scrappers and 4 watchers, that was an extremely intense fight!

So I'm in the second area now and the main quest is telling me to go half the map away, I'm not sure whether to go there first or just meander there and see if things pop up along the way... what have you guys done?

Oh I also have to commend Guerilla on not putting Microtransactions in this...

Do you guys know how EASY it would have been for them to do that with those reward box things? I was just opening up a bunch of em and I'm like what the hell why did they not make these available for real money? It would have been such a simple cash grab but they chose not to do it. Very happy to see that, although maybe it's something coming in the future?

Have you been to the canyon desert like area? Or is that the area the game is telling you to go? I believe you're at the part where you have to defeat that big spinning monster that has multiple arms and then right after they open the big gate...Me personally I did 1-2 side quests right inside that place and after that I went into the new area where it looks like a desert/canyon. Right after that is actually where I fought that stormbird I was talking about.

I've just got to the canyon area after killing that and getting through the gate. I've just gone to the second cauldron now

Guys, let's be careful about what we talk about in here and understand that right now we have people who might not be where you are yet. Blurting out what to expect in the first cauldron or talking about an enemy people might not have seen yet is a little spoilery. Story isn't the only thing you can ruin for someone. I think we can give it at least a week before we start talking details. At the very least, either spoiler tag your responses or make a thread dedicated to it that has a spoiler warning.

Riderz1337

I don't even know where these cauldrons people are talking about are lol. Nobody tell me though cause I just want to find it for myself.

How do I stop playing this game? Can anyone help?

I've been saying "last ten minutes" to myself for about 5 hours now.

10 hours and 32 minutes play time in the just under 12 hours I've had this game. Oops ;D

Riderz1337

Guys what's wrong with me. Is it weird that I actually look forward to each and every combat encounter with the machines?

Any other open world game I dread it... Witcher 3 it got extremely boring and repetitive or button mashy. Games like AC or arkham knight feel the same.

What I think really does it is that the combat really takes strategy, precision and skill. You have to target certain parts of the machines for effective damage which doesn't make it boring by just having this huge target to hit in whichever spot you want. Also there's so many tools at your disposal, and I especially love the traps you can set up or using a rope caster to hod the enemy down.

dang man I can't get over how good the combat is!!

New machines I just encountered and wow I was not ready for those.  LOL.  So many came at me at once.  I was running away like a baby.  Only figured out the weakness of one of them so far.  Have not tried to take on the other one.

The combat is amazing ^^

Normally in open world games I avoid combat as much as possible, because its usually either boring or bad. In horizon though if a machine starts detecting me I'm like "oh yeah let's do this, baby" ;D its just so fudgy fun.

I also completely love Aloy. She's so funny and makes lots of sarcastic comments. GG have truly made a new playstation icon.

Outstanding. Just, outsanding.

I can't wait to fight a thunderjaw

I love the sarcasm. They ran the risk of having it feel forced or cringy but it works do well with her personality.

It does work so well! Aloy has made me laugh so many times already, she's the kind of person I'd love to be friends with irl. God dang, I can't believe GG did it. I was so hyped and yet... its been ever better than I hoped so far.

Spoiler for Hidden:
the glinthawk, which is pretty easy especially when you combine the rope caster with some melee.  The other is an alligator looking one that I didn't try to take on yet, but I don't recall the name of it.   Also a lancehorn(not sure if it's new in the desert area but its the only place I feel I have seen it), but that one was pretty easy as well.

Riderz1337

Thinking about it now the side quests are actually much better than I anticipated. Like I legit had a side quest that went on for 45 minutes and it just kept leading me from one place to another.

Nothing about what I've played felt fetch quest like which is a good thing. There's one quest in the desert area with that one dude that you meat in the beginning with the cool moustache. Such a great quest line so far...
