QuoteYouTube has pulled PewDiePie from its advertising platform after anti-Semitic videos were posted to his account.

The decision came after Disney chose to cut off its relationship with the YouTube star when it was made aware of videos on the channel that included people showing signs reading "death to all Jews".

YouTube said that the PewDiePie channel would be removed from its advertising platform and that it would also be cancelling a reality show that the YouTube star features in. "We've decided to cancel the release of Scare PewDiePie Season 2 and we're removing the PewDiePie channel from Google Preferred," a spokesperson told The Independent.

Google Preferred is an advertising platform that allows advertisers to contact YouTube's most popular stars and advertise on their platforms. It isn't the only way to advertise on the service, but YouTube highlights it on a special page as a way of accessing "the top 5 per cent of content on YouTube" and feature "alongside some of the most engaging and brandsafe content" on the site.

The videos are no longer allowed to be monetised because they are in violation of YouTube's "advertiser-friendly content guidelines", which are stricter than the normal guidelines and require that people cannot feature "controversial or sensitive subjects and events, including subjects related to war, political conflicts, natural disasters and tragedies, even if graphic imagery is not shown".

I couldn't stand the guy anyway.  Can't even stomach 10 seconds of his videos.

I appreciate that the company dropped him before there was a public outcry. I hadn't even heard about PewDiePie saying this type of stuff until now.

Welp... sucks for him. I bet he still has other streams of revenue, though.

Good. You shouldn't joke about those things.

I never liked him anyway, I can't understand how he's so popular.

53 million fudgy followers on Youtube.  That's absolutely ridiculous.  I tried watching his video about youtubers losing subscribers and he tries and act all emotional and it's just corny shame.  I turned it off as fast as I could.

I think GameTheory covered how PewDiePie managed to garner so much popularity. He managed to get caught in the perfect storm, IIRC.

Seems that some of the context was left out, particularly the "Death to all Jews, subscribe to Keemstar" part. If you guys don't know who Keemstar is, that's a good thing.

For those of you who don't know, Keemstar is a gigantic piece of shame who makes his Youtube living by focusing on and sometimes inciting drama between internet personalities. He sometimes sets up faux situations to create very dramatic and toxic scenes. At one point, he even went off the rails in a witch hunt for a pedophile that played Runescape. He thought he found the guy, a guy in his 60's, and targeted him, along with his followers, for so much harassment that the guy actually broke down live and started crying. Turns out, he had the wrong guy and his little vigilante stunt nearly brought someone's life to ruin.

Dude made 7 million a year. Pretty sure he could ride off in to the sun set and never think about working again.

Lol, true. Wouldn't be surprised if he had a comeback in some way though

I don't think he needs a comeback.

He's still super popular and still has millions of subscribers. This is more a shakeup than anything else.

It's crazy how much money people can make off of youtube.  I watch a guy named David Dobrik on youtube doing vlogs and has over 2 million subscribers and it's estimated he makes a million or so a year off of it.  The guy is paying for a Tesla model x which from I can tell is upwards of a $1000 car payment.
