Is it?

DS isn't still selling right? Do we know exact 3DS numbers?

I'll leave in ethomaz' numbers here:

3DS shipped 0.82m last quarter.

44.14m shipped lifetime as of June 30, 2014.

.75 vs .82.  Assuming the PSP accounts for even 100k (Which I doubt), that'll leave the Vita in a close range to the 3DS.  VGC has the 3DS outselling the PS4...

Well wasn't vita out of stock for a while? Maybe it sold way less than it shipped.

Or it was out of stock because Sony shipped way less than demand ;)

This is most likely the correct scenario.

To be fair it is more like retail ordered less than demand but yeap looking at the previous Vita sales trend nobody expected it to have this jump in sales.

INCJ, JDI, Sony and Panasonic announce the establishment of JOLED Inc.
A new integrated company in organic light-emitting diode display panels

http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/News/Press/201407/14-0731E/

QuoteJOLED plans to focus primarily on development of medium-size OLED displays for use in tablets, mobile PCs, and signage, where the unique features of OLED, including lightness/thinness and flexibility, can be leveraged.

Didn't Sony abandon their partnership with Panasonic over OLED displays since they couldn't make them cost effective?
