Max, if sports games aren't AAA, LBP3 isn't either. The team and budget are likely way smaller there than with sports titles.

Btw. Sony financials in like 10 hours or so.

i think it will die soon after release in EU, in will struggle heavily after release in the US, and in japan it will do good for the most part, but not reach 3DS level of sales.

launch sales are indicative of virtually nothing. WiiU had a good launch, even Vita had a somewhat decent launch. reality will kick in soon after launch. hype for zelda is really high at the moment, but as with every game, hype dies out after release. and once people are done playing that, what next? the next big game is Splatoon 2. and how long of a wait will that be? 1 month? 2 months? 3? the droughts will start to show, and people will realize that this system just doesnt have enough games. and the similar situations with the WiiU will start to appear, long droughts waiting for one big game to hit, then a drought after it.

a dedicated gaming system these days without dedicated third party support wont succeed, its that simple. the summer will be the first true test for the switch, and one game along with two ports (MK8 and Skyrim) wont be enough to keep pushing it. and when the holidays arrive it will be facing a massive onslaught on big releases on PS4 and XB1, with a "holy foursome" of CoD, Battlefront, Destiny and RDR2. all four have a very high chance of selling at least 10 million units. all the while the PS4 and XB1 will likely be cut to 250$ and have a limited price promotion to 200$ during the holidays. a 300$ switch will have a tough time competing.

I haven't a clue anymore.  Really depends on Japan.  The thing will sell 15 million because there's 15 million Nintendo faithful left.  The question will be the Japanese numbers.  The lack of faith by Japanese devs is honestly disturbing.  A new Final Fantasy/Dragon Quest title just got announced... for the Vita and PS4.  NS version?  Not to mention the devs that showed up to the reveal basically said they haven't started (Or probably won't start) making NS games.  That's like if Capcom showed up to the PS4 reveal and instead of showing Deep Down (Yes it's vaporware, but at least they showed something) and said they haven't started  developing anything.  I'd be pretty dang worried if something like that happened if you ask me.  But back to the numbers.  The NS has obviously gotten the Japanese publishers spooked.  Whether this will affect the sales of the console or not, I honestly can't predict.  I was expecting 20 million sold in Japan + world, I have no idea now.

Yeah I don't really know what to think any more. Its a really cool concept but its not going to have many games and it certainly won't appeal to any of the usual playstation/xbox fans. It will rely on the more casual audience, and it won't even get a lot of those guys without COD, Battlefield, Assassin's Creed etc.

If it is a successor to 3DS then I think it will still be relatively successful at the very least. If Nintendo re insanely stupid and continue to support 3DS and then make a successor, Switch could do disastrously bad.

Man I forget all those games are releasing this year, Banana. 2016 last quarter was quite disappointing for me but this year it looks immense. I'm very likely to get Destiny 2, Battlefront 2 and RDR2 plus whatever else catches my eye.

Yeah the games lineup in Q1 is absolutely nuts this year. Q1 2017 is actually probably better than Q2 2016, which is kind of crazy.

That being said I think I'm only buying Horizon, but I have my eye on Nioh, Nier and Mass Effect. If they review well I might be tempted.

9.7 million PS4s shipped this last quarter. The company had an operating income of $796 million, the gaming division specifically made $431 million in OI almost 25% up YoY.

Their fudgy movie division lost them $920 million due to a massive goodwill charge, really wouldn't be surprised if they wanted to get rid of this.

So they need to ship 2.9 million PS4s this quarter to reach their goal for the fiscal year, over 500k more then they shipped the same quarter last year. Could be tough.

Re7, Pro, slim, Horizon... I think it'll be done. If not missed by a marginal amount

We already know it's nearly 100k (sold)  up in Japan already

It will be super tough considering this means there were over 3 million PS4s on shelves at the turn of the year
