I think Amazon ranks on sales per hour. Even though the Switch isn't available for preorder, the initial preorders were high enough that the sales per hour remain high. However, if the Switch remains unavailable and more hours pass, it will go down in ranking.

Yep, something isn't right here. It's been out of stock now for a day and a half. It should be sliding down the charts by now.  I thought that perhaps Amazon have been told to keep taking preorders because Nintendo would cover those extra preorders but if you look Amazon don't even know if they're getting any more. This has never happened before and I believe it could be yet another indication they've drastically changed something.
