Nintendo Switch presentation: On third thought, it was that bad

Zelda looks freaking great. I was seriously impressed by it.

It really didn't

The difference is there, but if I am a Wii U owner, I wouldn't go "Omg, I need to upgrade to the Switch!"

EDIT:
Looks like this video does a much better job demonstrating the differences. Better foliage and lighting on the Switch version.

I hope Nintendo is pricing the system $300 to make extra money off die hard fans. Then they plan to drop to $250 near the end of the year and do a "relaunch."

If at $300 they are hardly making a profit, that's bad.

Isn't that the E3 wii u version? Could be better now.

But if Switch actually does look that much better, the hardware leaks were wrong.

Not sure, it could be. I guess we won't know until we get an updated build of the Wii U version or when Digitral Foundry does a side-by-side comparison.

DerNebel

Yeah I would wait for a launch comparison before judging the difference in rgaphic fidelity for Zelda.

Also seems the speculation about smartphone stuff is true. Game voice chat requires a smartphone.

Seems the Switch has an incredibly bare bones UI itself while offloading practically everything to smartphone apps.

This is so, so bad.

Have you played it? If that game was on the other platforms with other games it wouldn't have done half as well.  No way people with other games accept those shaming controls

Honestly the more I think about it the more hilarious it becomes. People hyped this thing up for months, some even longer, as the system that's going to take Nintendo to the top again. The system where they'd use all the lessons they've learned with the Wii U to make massive success. After the freaking teaser video people already proclaimed this as a success and all over the place online you could find people sold on it on that piece of marketing alone, showing that the game community is completely unable to stop falling for the hype. Nintendo is still clueless and in retrospect I'm completely baffled why people thought they'd get it this time.

Edit: Also the damage control on some Nintendo specific subreddits is a sight to behold at the moment, truly giving me some Xbox One reveal flash backs.

Needing to do a relaunch would be a bad sign of sales and would not be something Nintendo want

No, I haven't but you have to be completely delusional to think that Splatoon sold as well as it did, particularly in Japan, simply because there was nothing else to play.

I quite like the look of the hardware.  Looks super sleek and quite a few impressions say it looks great and feels great when holding it.  I just wish it at least had ps4 level of hardware when docked.  No reason is shouldn't have been at least close at this point.  Not to mention I only really want to play zelda and Mario.   Not worth paying $300 for just 1 launch title and one not coming till holiday.   There will definitely be a price cut within a year or so.

I like the super minimalism of it, but I can't even fathom why they don't have a mic on it or why everything is offloaded to smartphone apps.  There is so much stuff you have to keep track of for this console it's unreal.

I love the look of it. It looks really great to me, its a very nice design.

Yeah I don't want to play many games on it. Pretty much only pokemon, smash, mario kart and probably super mario. I was thinking about getting it at or close to launch but there's no way now.

I can't believe that with how weak the hardware is and all these missing features that they're pricing it that high. They could easily sell it for less with how much money they'll get from accessories and online. The worst pricing is the accessories to be honest, the cost of the controllers are utterly ridiculous.

Unless they are worried this will be Wii U 2.0

Sell it for a solid profit to all the diehards that will buy it anyway and then switch to a more competitive price later on. Having a competitive price day one doesn't guarantee better sales so maybe Nintendo wants to take the safer approach.

Just have super limited stock so it feels like a hot ticket item.
