That is too stupid for me to believe. I think the smartphone app might be needed for viewing friends and doing all those social features, but they can't possibly expect people to hold their phone to chat while playing online.

Then go down to the "Online Lobby and Voice chat" section, you're greeted by this.
"Our new dedicated smart device app will connect to Nintendo Switch and let you invite friends to play online, set play appointments, and chat with friends during online matches in compatible games─all from your smart device. 
A free, limited version of this app will be available for download in summer 2017."
Also! If you go down lower to where it lists the features the online service offers, it clearly says "Online Lobby & Voice Chat app".
 
Are they fudgy joking? Releasing a console without voice chat in 2017. A paid online service where you have to use your smartphone to talk to the people you're playing with?!?
 
P.S. Their "free game" thing also sucks.

i'll restate what i said on vgchartz,.. i'll chose to believe this is lost in translation.  it just sounds impossibly stupid.  but the evidence is kind of convincing.  the way nintendo worded that (twice) makes it sound like you have to use your phone to talk to people online which begs the question,.. why even bother with the nintendo app.  i typically only part up with friends and i already have their phone numbers.

Some Nintendo rep told Eurogamer that Zelda will be 1080/60 on the Switch in docking mode and 720/60 in handheld mode, meanwhile Gamespot said that they experienced more framedrops on the Switch version of Zelda than they did with the Wii U version, guess someone made a mistake. Doesn't stop the 60fps rumour from racing to the top on the Nintendoswitch subreddit currently.

I'm legitimately surprised that there are as many chumps as there are supporting Nintendo. This thing needs to tank hard.  Less than 10m lifetime. It's more off putting than wii u ever was to me.
