Quote from: Aura7541 on Nov 09, 2016, 01:01 PMHe's likely going to end up being a bad president. However, the outcome went the way it did was not because most Americans like Trump, but rather a lot of them were anti-Hillary.
Exactly. It was more of a rejection against Hillary. Liberals are full blown panic right now claiming it was sexist and it shows sexism exist because they didn't want to vote for a woman.... It completely ignores everything else about her. Women didn't show up to vote for her and IN ILLINOIS I know more women who voted for trump (I don't live in Chicago though. Would probably be completely different there). The women who did show up, trump got a fair portion of the vote.

Just to show how disliked Hillary is... Trump got more votes in Florida than Obama did 4 years ago

Quote from: ethomaz on Nov 09, 2016, 01:23 PMIt had over 50% of the votes, no? So most people like him.

Or do you mean most hate him less than Hilary???
Neither candidate had more than 50%

I really hope the Democratic Party doesn't think like this because it needs to re-evaluate itself badly. If the lack of introspection continues, then Democrats won't have a chance in the midterm elections.

Living in IL, a very democratic state, and listening to NPR last night with radio personalities out right condemning trump and following NPR on Facebook and having a lot of liberal family on Facebook... That's exactly what they are saying

She only lost because people didn't want to vote for a woman

Which just shows how disliked trump is. Huge voter turn out there. Not to support the candidate but to vote against the other. The dislike fueled people to vote

Watch voter IDgain more traction now.

Voter ID shouldn't even be a question imo. Like I said before mandatory IDs for citizens work in Germany, so why wouldn't they work in the US? Just have that be the thing people need to have to vote and get rid of that weird voter registration process.

I really expected more gloating from people at work today .  seems pretty civil.

Lol, maybe they didn't really believe this would happen either and now it's sinking in that they have to live with this shame as well.

i hear what you are saying but the very same people that are for voter ID laws are against having a mandatory federal (or even state issued) ID.  the only voter ID laws are being pushed is because republicans have looked at the statistics of who does/doesn't have a driver's licences and the people that don't have a driver's licence are black, latino, and immigrants,... people they don't want to people because they break democrat not republican.

voter ID is a great idea in theory.   ...but here in america voter ID is only about voter suppression.

it's really no different then the texas laws that were advertised as "pro women's health" in mandating planned parenthood facilities meet surgical medical requirements.  it wasn't about women's health it was closing down abortion clienics by any means possible.

I didn't say you did. I thought you meant Trump supporters aren't gloating as much as you thought and said that could be because they didn't actually take him seriously either and are now actually afraid because this is actually happening.

Yeah, i understood. but at the same time i felt like the only one at work that thought she was going to win. i even joked with people as there where  leaving  work about them voting for Hillary, because i knew they went to vote for Trump. im getting really funny looks when i say "michelle 2020, lets do this".
