Being down 0.1 million YOY is very good considering that Sony announced the Pro at the beginning of September and a bunch of sales might have been moved to the holiday season.

very good results. 3.9 million in this quarter is simply a fantastic number. i wonder how much they will do next Q. last year they had special edition Starwars and CoD bundles. as well as a standard Starwars bundle. and they were really competitive when it came to prices and bundles. this year they seem way more dependent on the PS Pro.
I guess they stopped whatever was bleeding money in the division.

being flat YOY is okay if the pro shows that a bunch of sales have been moved to the holiday season.

right now i see this as okay but not great.

The PS4 will actually have to be up quite significantly in the next 6 months, if Sony want to their fiscal target of 20 million shipped (which they haven't adjusted after this quarter). They'll need to ship 12.6 million more PS4s for that, which is 1.9 million more than they did in the same timeframe last year.

They'll need to be bullish if they want to do this.

Assessments from Abdiel and Osirisblack hint that the Pro will sell very high. Amazon also echoes this.

10M (last year 8.4M without a Pro) this quarter and 3M (probably a bit less) next quarter is totally doable

FF15 will assure it will be up a decent amount in Japan.

Tak, the guy who denied wii u was over tracked because "there's no evidence to support it" even though sell through to shipped difference showed proved it, is claiming the ps4 was over shipped two quarters in a row

Doable sure, but we still should act like this is an easy goal. Sony will have to be bullish especially in terms of holiday deals for the Slim (which they have announced non of yet, at least in NA) to reach this goal.

I mean think about it, they don't even have a Call of Duty special edition console this year, as of now they don't have a Cod bundle in NA at all. I don't know what their plan is in regards to holiday bundles, maybe they are waiting for the Pro to release to unveil them (again for NA, Europe has already had more than a bunch of Slim bundles for the holidays unveiled), but as of right now I'd say they are missing something to ship 10 million consoles this quarter.

My guess is
that the Pro is taking this year's place of the special edition (SW and COD) bundles that happened last year
That the Slim will be the main sell during BF at 250 (a price that'll happen again on Cyber Monday and possibly xmas week). Remains to be seen what games will be bundled; I expect Watch Dogs 2 to be in there somewhere, maybe U4 as well
COD bundle around xmas-ish just like last year (300 as standard price slim with IW)

Of course if they're stupid they could screw it all up by doing all the wrong moves like keeping the Slim 300, BFing the Pro at 400 with an extra game instead, PS4+PSVR deals that nobody would touch, etc
But they won't do that right

Who knows what they plan to do, all we can say is that they are either extremely confident in the sales potential of the Pro or they still have some very good Slim deals planned for the next couple months.

Has to be Slim deals because there's no way the Pro can compete with 250$ Xbox One S, the gap would be bigger than in 2014
