Have no idea how true their testing is but it was an interesting read.

They tested games at native 4K.
The PC was around $630 I believe.
Is this where I talk favorably about myself?

So dont build a 630 dollar pc expecting to play in 4k.

Two out of 4 or 5 did play natively in 4K.

3 out 4.  I was incorrect.
They tested
Killing floor 2: concluded pro could run it native 4K
TESO: concluded pro could run native 4K
ROTTR: concluded could run native 4K
DeusEX Mankind: concluded up scaled 4K.

Of course all of that is on a pc with Windows 10.

Hard to do apples to apples with a console.  So their conclusion it can do native on some was interesting to me because I figured a $630 machine would fail harder.

It was a knock against the pc not ps4 pro.

That makes a good 1440 machine.  And a monster 1080 machine. I have one that's pretty simular. But I wouldn't expect to run 4k on it constantly with out it driving me nuts.

Oh, I know you were knocking the PC. I just assumed a $630 PC would fail at 4K worse.

Makes me curious if the pro will do more native 4K than I originally assumed is all.

I'm sure it will. But I don't think many devs will.

Probably true. I'd assume most will simply upscale games.

TESO is native 4K on pro according to the devs, so I think this test in the OP isn't too bad.

Lots and lots of PS4 Pro games will reach the 4K native resolution. Others will use checkerboard rendering and similar to reach 4K.

Less than a third imo will be 1440p or lower. These will be the games that didn't manage 1080p on the standard system.

i'd wager probably 80% of the library can do native 4k.  i mean,.. 75% of games are last gen ports and indies.  the 4k is only going to be hard to reach for that ~1 title a month that is a real next gen AAA title and that's really only a dozen or so titles a year.

That makes sense because they said deusex was one that'd have to be upscaled.

That's not bad then. Pretty good percentage for native 4K.
I was guessing lower but I don't know much about. I've just seems comments basically saying the pro can't do native 4K at all and was a little surprised by this article.

Yeah Sony did a horrible job with the PS4 Pro reveal. The amount of confusion surrounding the device is crazy.

Apparently so because all over the place I've been seeing how it can't do native 4K at all.

It's why this article surprised me.

Some people are extremely vehement about downplaying the PS4 Pro. I've seen a thread about TLOU Remastered being able to run at native 4K on PS4 Pro and one dude just accused them of lying.

Honestly it's what I see most. Ps4k is sort of 4K and upscaled to 4K.
Before this article I didn't realize it was going to do native 4K on games. 3 out of 4 tested isn't too bad of a start.
