A new bubble is being made!



Jaques Station was transported to the side of the galactic center through a mysterious wormhole incident. Well as a result of this station now being thousands of light years away from Earth, it was decided to use it as the first step in a new colonization effort. This is a community goal where players transport materials to Jaques and directly build new stations and outposts. Slowly but surely, the surrounding systems will be inhabited and a new bubble will form. Really cool!

Also I wonder what I'd prefer for the next expansion.

Space legs or landing on inhabited planets.

On one hand, space legs could be great at making the game feel more personal. Get out of your ship and walk around space stations or on planet surfaces. Head down to the station's bar and physically talk to mission givers. Or pull out a gun and go FPS on everything. Walking around within your ship would be incredible too.


On the other hand, inhabited planets could bring a lot of life to the game hehehe. Land on a lush green field and go big game hunting of an alien species. Or dive underwater and explore the depths. The thing I worry with this one though is that it'd just offer more of the same and not really help with getting rid of grinding.

The war of the generation seems to be nigh.


Both Imperial and Federation capital ships are building up numbers within the Merope system. So far it's only been a cold war with both sides only funding resistance groups.

Gamescom is next week!

Frontier will be going all out probably. Last year at gamescom they announced season 2, showed the character creator, ship launched fighters, multi crew, etc. I doubt they'd go full out on showing season 3 since season 2 is floundering, but they might announce the base concept and tease some general things. Also season 2's "the guardians" DLC will probably be stealth beta released. Guardians adds ship launched fighters and passenger missions.



But season 3 either way is right around the corner. I've been thinking and it seems very likely it'll be getting out of your ship!!! Not only is this highly requested and something the devs talked about adding in the past, but it feels like the right time to do it.

For one the character creator is being added to the game and mission givers have been transferred over to 3D character models too. Thats a lot of work already spent on making the game human sized. Plus there is just so much you can do with this during the season. The initial update could add EVA in space, walking around on planets, and walking around on ships. FPS element would be part of it were you have guns and infiltrate planetary bases or even other ships. Abandoned ships could be floating in space that you'd get to explore and plunder. Caves could be added to planets that are too tight for an SRV. Another update could add bars and social areas to give the game more feel.

Plus until players can walk around outside ships, atmospheric planets wouldn't be able to feel fully explorable.

Oh get hyped for passengers!

2.2 update brings ship launched fighters and "passengers." With Horizon being skimpy so far, I was worried passengers would be just a new commodity that in game functions the same as everything else.

Seems that's not the case! A quote from today's art book talks about ships having passenger specific entrances, and also concept art of passengers in a queue to board your ship. Frontier might not under deliver!

Oh God It's Happening


Elite Dangerous has spent almost two years leading up to the thargoid invasion. They're an alien species that was present in the previous games, but after hundreds of in lore years are thought of as myth.
