Oh the humanity!

This is the guy that paid $1,250 for his early copy.

(nice clouds)

I haven't seen many hyperspace jumps, but they seem to take upwards of 30 seconds. Seems PC gets another reason over PS4 for me  ::)

I don't understand how the space transitions work. Seems you can just look at a planet and press a button to get into the atmosphere.

If No Man's Sky turns out to be a failure...

"Here are some quick answers to the most FAQ I've been getting in PMs:
The planets almost always have some degree of life, although some are more plentiful than others. I have yet to encounter a planet quite as teeming with life as some of the ones shown in the trailer / demo vids. Maybe as I get closer to the center? Time will tell. Whenever you land on a planet, it gives you metrics on the Flora and Fauna, anywhere from "Yeah there's a shame ton!" to "None" and even on the "None" planets, I've found life - so I'm pretty sure it may be actually impossible for a planet to be 100% bone dry on life.

The planets are pretty big. Sometimes annoyingly big. It's actually faster to fly up in to orbit to circle around a planet to get to POIs than it is to fly at surface level (as you have maximum speeds and semi-orbit is 10x the max as surface level) which feels a little weird sometimes while playing.

I'm pretty sure this game is 60FPS but I could be wrong, is there a definitive way to check? I haven't experienced frame loss at all while playing.

The trophy list isn't actually "turned on" in the trophy section yet. I do earn trophies - they pop up like normal - but when I go to try and view them in my trophy list, nothing appears. I guess they're waiting? Who knows.

The clouds are not procedural, at least not yet, but I think this is because it's just a placeholder. As you approach and enter planets etc they go through shifts in display representing distance, and at maximum distance you're viewing the outer most "layer" IE: the cloud layer and this doesn't seem to change. Maybe they just didn't want to bother making those layers procedural? I don't know.

Everyone keeps asking me what I think about this game and what kind of score I would give it etc, and I don't want to answer those questions until I'm done playing it, HOWEVER, I will say this:
Expectations on this game seem a bit over hyped, and not because "the game is bad" but rather because I think expectations don't necessarily match the gameplay style of what's actually here. You NEED, ABSOLUTELY NEED to come in to this game with an open mind about what to expect if you're going to be happy. If you just make assumptions on how this game plays and if you think you've already made up your mind on how much you're going to like it, you may be disappointed. This would be like going to see Terminator 2 for the first time expecting another horror thriller like Terminator 1, and then being disappointed because it ends up being a really action-packed blockbuster. Was the movie bad? Of course not, it's one of the best movies of all time - but your expectations did not meet reality and now you're upset regardless. I see some reviewers coming at this full guns blazing over this, time will tell.

I will work up my own review and I'll post it. It's just taking me time to find the right words to express what this has been like as a player and I also refuse to make a final say on it until I've "finished" by reaching the center.

More later! Back to work!
PS. Someone get Sean Murray on the horn and tell him to nerf Atlas Stones. They ruin the game. He'll understand."

I'm really interested in how the planets "work" from a dev perspective. Each one seems to be its own level that is "faked" into the spaceship view. How are they handling this with the stars in the sky, and the sun? The stars don't seem to rotate and the sun seems to faux rotate, so I wonder how they're managing that.

(I've been away all day and have finally caught up with NMS news)

This is something that usually doesn't bode well, someone that has paid a sum like this will be way more likely to justify his purchase as something great. So if he's already able to point to clear things that he doesn't like and that he thinks other people won't like, just think about what reviewers and normal customers will say.

Yeah the repetition will be bad, but I don't think repetition itself is bad. The game seems to have grinding as its main mechanic so repeating animal designs isn't as troublesome as if it was a walking simulator.

Also the leaker found a method to get to the center really fast: (Spoiler) Game breaking bug found - Paging Sean and Hello Games : NoMansSkyTheGame

EDT: seems he 100% the game in 30 hours? Or at least maxed out all his stats. At The center: Well, I made it. Here are some notes on where I'm at with the game right now. : NoMansSkyTheGame

I like how you have full control over speed. It's really annoying how slow it is to move around in Elite Dangerous, especially when landing on planets. Doesn't seem to be the case here.

Hahaha!!!!

or what must be the tenth time today: (maybe i should thread it)
90/10 life rule.
Ship classes and differences.
"weirder planets and creatures closer to the centre"
Community working together to discover crafting recipes. Everything has a blueprint.
"hundreds of hours" to reach the centre.
"Epic space battles"
Element combination.
Still unconfirmed:
Portals. Especially laughable as daymeeuhn still hasn't seen one.
Ringed planets.
Sandworms.
Barren planets.
Leaving messages for players.
Ship naming.
AI wingmen.
Animals walking in herds.
Cloaking devices.
Mountain-sized mountains.
Harvesting resources from stars.
Day/night cycles being caused by planetary rotation.
Creature food chains.
Edit: None of those ship formations flying overhead on planet surface either.
No sign of creatures affecting trees and fauna (like the rhino in second trailer)
Blasting holes in asteroids. Some claim to have seen this, but everytime i've watched a streamer shoot an asteroid with only a couple of shots, the whole thing blows up.

No.

Haha that's fun. The game has annoying pirate interdictions just like Elite  ::)

I've been watching this stream and it's great: http://www.hitbox.tv/BigTiggles Right now he's trying to get to the star in a solar system. Seems the planets are all bunched up in one area and don't orbit/move.

It seems the stars are just part of the skybox...

WTF went wrong during development/marketing? All these things might make the end result a better game, but it's weird to have them come out of left corner. Everyone thought the universe took liberties with size and distance, but still mimicked real world physics. Quote from a community member "It's a functioning galaxy. Planets will spin around suns and moons will spin around planets. If you stand still for long enough you will see the day/night cycle. Everything will opperate like a real galaxy, with simplified 'gamey' physics and shorter distances."

Edt: I think I've figured it out. All the planets and everything in the solar system are stationary. The planets are close up and crunched together within this "play space." The only thing that moves is the star skybox. That essentially rotates around the planets and creates the 24 minute days.

Maybe they changed it to be like this for people confused by orbital mechanics? Sean in an older interview talked about a playtester being confused by landing on a planet and later returning to space only to be confused that the space station wasn't there anymore.

Thatd make sense.

Best view I've seen yet.

So many other shots are ruined by that horrible fog.
