om man i want september NPD.   the destiny bundle has shot back up to 24 right now.   I would not be surprised if people play the ps3 beta, and decide from that to get the bundle haha

Dr. Pezus

I'm amazed that this gen is higher than last even with WiiU doing terrible

People really need to understand that the 7th gen was very unusual and not likely to happen again. All of the circumstances and moves worked almost perfectly to allow for three highly successful consoles. The Wii was a fluke and would have never survived on the backs of the core gamer community and without a global economic tailspin that made its price extremely attractive. Had that not happened and the Wii hadn't become the new Tickle Me Elmo for casuals we'd all be sitting here celebrating what looks to be better generation than the last for sales.

EDIT: Sorry Pezus. That wasn't meant to be aimed at you.

really great numbers for xone I wonder how well they will keep going forward

Remember when we talked in May NPD thread about BenV and his claim "XB1 is selling better than PS4".

Well... I had a post in VGC which I made I bet with him that his "evidences" was just anedoctal and based in some Gamestop stores and Amazon have more influence in NPD than his anedoctal stores.

I don't even need to tell him I was right because just to be right already made my day :D

DAT Amazon Bestsellers.

7 months in a row.

Yep. It's the reason I was confident the PS4 was outselling the X1. Enough people buy from that site to make it an effective sample size to check the pulse of the market. Same reason why I'm increasingly confident the X1 is going to have a shaming July.

Xevross

XB1 will have an extremely shaming July. I think PS4 weekly average will drop slightly, so it may be just under 200k again. I wouldn't be surprised to see XB1 back under 100k

Xevross

Also it seems like Destiny PS4 bundle has been outselling XB1 since the announcement. I may be safe to say that the PS4 Destiny week boost will be bigger than XB1's June+July+August NPD.

Raven

I don't know. The Last of Us is looking like it's going to be a big enough deal to at least help the PS4 maintain its sales average but I'm willing to bet July will have a better weekly average thanks to it.

Xevross

Will the TLOU boost be bigger than the WD legs and E3 boost though? I'm not sure it will because it only has 5 days, if it was 2 weeks of TLOU in July I would agree. or this reason I don't think August will drop much for PS4 either.

DD and I were talking about that last night. September is going to be huge for PS4. The fact that, on Amazon, the PS4 normal package has generally maintained the same position while the Destiny bundle alone has been outselling the X1 means it is going to be monstrous when those sales can finally be added. I wouldn't be surprised if PS4 did 700,000 just in the US.

700k is too high but 500k is possible.

Xevross

either would I. I'd be super shocked if September NPD was less than 500k and I expect 600-700k.

We don't actually know how much of an effect E3 has on sales. Five days is still almost a full week and The Last of Us is not being slept on. The Watch Dogs sales are likely still trickling in and the Destiny Beta may be enticing people to purchase PS4's.
