.110" (2.8mm) Open-Barrel Non-Insulated Quick Disconnect Terminal
OPB-110QCD60$0.05 USD$3.00 USD
30 Connection 22 AWG .187" Ground Daisy Chain Wire
30-CDAISYWIRE-1871$4.45 USD$4.45 USD
Philmore 12 Terminal Euro Style 18-20 AWG Barrier Strip
BARRIER-STRIP-12-18-201$2.95 USD$2.95 USD

I got the same ground cables.  I hope they're long enough I have to go in between player 1 and 2.  You're going with sanwa/seimetsu buttons?
Quote from: Mmm_fish_tacos on Jul 15, 2016, 11:31 PMDepends on how smooth you want it, If you don't care too much about perfrect I'd go with a sponge roller, If not then some quality spray paint will work. Don't forget to prime it.
The wood I"m working with is already primed and fancy.  Like I don't have to touch it other than the sides/edges.  I'm going to buy some strip thingy to put on it.  My dad said using T-molding wouldn't work because we don't have the tools to cut the slits for it.  Homedepot has this strip thing we can use.

It's actually hard to get paint to stick well to melamine, Check to make sure that's what you actually have. If so follow these steps.

I want to try these buttons. They look sweet.

Not worth it.  I did have an idea of using translucent Industrias Lorenzo (Original Happ supplier) concave buttons and putting LEDs in them.  But I wanted the classic look.

Paint should be fine.  The wood I'm using is what my buttons are resting on when I posted the pictures.

God those disconnects are terrible.  I should never have bought them.  I should have just made them myself.  But the crimper's 20 dollars :(

There was a 50 dollar duty and tax.  Looks like I'm never ording parts from the U.S. again.

dang...

Glad you said something, i just checked my mail and my order is there.

Well I just ordered a new soldering iron, Some more wire because I bought the wrong shame last time, I won't return it because it was my fault and i'm sure I can use it somewhere else at some point in time. Now I just need to wait on that to come and I can finish my project.

It's not so much the wires themselves are bad, the stupid insulators they put on the quick connects are terrible.  Plus they're a bit too small.  Once I put them on they're not coming off.

Well I was playing around with my dremel today.  Routing out a spot for my arcade stick probably isn't going to work...

Ugh we have to recut the wood.  My plans for the 8 buttons might not work.  The hap stick's base is too wide.  It will probably hit the button.  I'm not sure if I want to loose proper spacing for it.  Though I don't think it matters in the grand scheme of things.  Which means I'll design with more spacing for the stick.

Everything works. Now I just need to crimp the connections to some wire for each button and run the grounds. I might have to solder one more point.

Awesome.  What were those molex connectors called?  Terminals?  And you couldn't salvage the the original wiring to the daughter board?

Well I did use the wiring from the board, but i probably didn't need too. it would have been cleaner if i didn't. But I was worried about too much heat near the important part of the board. Are you talking about this Philmore 12 Terminal Euro Style 18-20 AWG Barrier Strip

Considering I cracked the other board I decied not to use it at all. If I make another I'll just cut the ribbon and desolder and resolder to the point on the board.

You should get one of these if you need to desolder, after some practice it worked really well.
