Nice lego. Is PS4 finally becoming the #1 family system? Been kinda odd how xbo tends to sell more family software.

Also Halo 5 is doing good. Might have a large bump due to the free weekened.

= Nintendo being dense.

Makes sense.

Wat?

It's literally "some guy said this" and you are saying Nintendo is dense.

Some guy at an internal sales representative meeting said that, it's not just some random guy, it's someone from Nintendos own sales team that made that projection. Also let's not forget how long Nintendo refused to adjust their year one or two sales projection which was something like 12 million or so, even though it had become abundantly clear that they weren't even close to hitting that target.

HTC Vive sells a couple units a day at the local Microsoft store.

That basically means nothing.
Everyone expected the original Wii to fail, and the PS3 to do incredibly well.  Does that make those people dense?  Someone expected that the Wii U would continue how well the Wii was doing.  That's not surprising.  No one makes a console under the expectation that it'll fail miserably.
Hindsight may be 20/20, but that doesn't mean things are obvious going into it.

The fact that the Wii succeeded was a surprise to everyone and it was one of those once in a blue moon things where it all just worked out. The pricing at the time of a global recession, the casual market looking for the next fad, and marketing that managed to catch the attention of parents who incorrectly believed the Wii would both entertain their kids and keep them in shape. Nintendo should have been prepared for that because any one of us could have told them to not expect such miraculous success the next time and had dang good reasoning as to why.

No one outside of Sony believed the PS3 was going to do incredibly well once the price and lacking software lineup was revealed. Had any of us been working inside Sony at the time, we're all smart enough to have known before the public announcement that the console was likely to have problems out of the gate at that price and with those games.

Yeah, no one makes a console expecting it to fail miserably. On the flip side, no one should be making huge projections for console sales just because, "Hey! You never know! It worked out here and here!". That Nintendo projected those kind of sales shows that they didn't fully comprehend the luck they had with the Wii and completely failed to understand what a modern console needs plus why simply having a touchscreen device doesn't bring the tablet and smartphone gamers to your yard.

Well from the quote.
QuoteI said that, since the Wii had already sold so well, we need to clearly explain the attraction of the Wii U if we are to get beyond that and sell the new system, and that this would be no easy task. I was responsible for selling the Wii U, and I knew what was good about it, so I talked with those in charge of sales about the importance of conveying the attractiveness of Wii U to consumers. I am guessing that some of this communication may have come across in a negative tone.

So clearly someone was aware.

I'm pretty certain that Sony expected to sell 100m, they just expected it to take longer.

Yet they still projected that many sales. Which means they were living in a fantasy land and not fully comprehending. That, or they did and just threw out a number for nuggets and giggles because they were trying to convince themselves that the Wii U was going to be the shame. No matter how you try to slice it, it was a foolish prediction that didn't take hindsight to figure out.

It was equally foolish of Sony to expect incredible sales before the console launched at that price tag and lineup. The gaming community at large DID NOT expect PS3 to do incredibly well. Again, no one outside of Sony expected the PS3 to sell well after the price and lineup was announced. Expectations of the PS3 to start selling well didn't happen until after the console dropped to about half of its starting price and highly received games started dropping left and right.

Again, you don't need hindsight to figure this shame out and things working out once or twice, especially if it wasn't even your product, is no excuse for making such bold predictions. There is no way to explain a 100 million projection for the Wii U other than Nintendo being blind. These are the idiots they're paying to tell them shame that any one of us here would have corrected for free and had great reasons why. Given enough advanced warning, we probably could have told them the console they needed to make if they wanted to get anywhere close to 100 million and it dang sure wouldn't have been what they released.

Kerotan

Ps4 #1 in Japan again with 24k. I would have said 20k a week during this period would be excellent but it's doing superbly well.  Really excited to see its 2016 total.  Could do over 1.8m. Is that the highest the ps3 ever did?

Halo 5 online community is stronger than Halo 4's, and is actually growing month over month.
The post-launch support for the game's multiplayer has been really good. If it was on PC, I'd buy it.

QuoteShop for our Prime Day Deal of the Day bundle that includes this console, a $50 Amazon Gift Card, a second Special Edition Shadow Dusk Xbox One Wireless Controller, Halo 5: Limited Edition (Physical Disc), and a full-game digital download of Forza Horizon 2 (Emailed Digital Code) for $279.

BF comes early for X1. That's like ~150 for the console, maybe less

QuoteWay less than $150. Let's be extremely generous and add up the used prices:

Amazon gift card = $50
Special edition controller = $60
Halo 5: LE = $26
Forza Horizon 2 = $26

The console's value would be about $117. If we were to go by the "new" prices:

Amazon gift card = $50
Special edition controller = $68
Halo 5: LE = $50
Forza Horizon 2 = $35

Then the console's value would be around $76.
