Quote"I look at Steam today, it's on an incredible growth trajectory. It's a massive force in gaming; a positive force. I think it will be bigger a year from now than it is today. And five years later it will still be bigger again," he said. "I look at Valve as an important [independent software vendor] for us on Windows. They are a critical part of gaming's success on Windows. I don't think Valve's hurt by not having our first-party games in their store right now. They're doing incredible well. We will ship games on Steam again."

QuoteAlso in the interview, Spencer stressed that, while Microsoft will put some of its future games on Steam (he didn't say which ones), he is also committed to further building out Microsoft's own Xbox store on PC. "I want to build a store; there's no doubt about that," he said.

I think Microsoft will publish small titles on Steam and keep their big games (e.g. Forza, Halo, etc.) on the Windows Store, provided that they don't sell like crud.

Square Enix in talks to bring Final Fantasy 14 to Xbox One | Polygon

Quote"Microsoft actually approached the Final Fantasy 14 team about the cross-platform opportunity," Yoshida told Polygon. "When our team reviewed the regulations that are associated with that, we realized that Microsoft may not have the experience or understanding of running an MMORPG as an online game genre just yet. The Final Fantasy 14 team has fed back to Microsoft that there are certain elements of its regulations that we would have to consider waived. We're waiting on Microsoft's response for that, but we are having discussions."

Basically, while the XB1 has crossplay, there are still caveats.

I thought it was funny during the conference they said that they were announcing it so developers could start thinking about/using the power for it.  You announce it to devs by sending out dev kits not at a conference where you send a slim xbox one out to die because you are trying to undercut sony.  They clearly don't give two nuggets about xbox one or xbox one S.

Can't wait for Forza Horizon 3 and Gears.

I guess Microsoft expects no games for launch?

i mean,.. it is still a year and a half away.  they'll have games as long as they get dev kits out before the end of the year.

still odd though.  mades it a lot more clear this wasn't a plan but a reaction to sony's neo.

It's gonna take a year and a half to do a port.  Devs don't have dev kits yet...

I've never played gears so I'm excited to try it.  Although I should get the gears of war collection so I can play them.  And forza horizon 3 does look pretty sweet.

Yeah I don't expect many games to even use much of the power of it for a year or more after it releases.  And even then they will likely work with xbox one in mind first and only do slight upgrades like texture res or AA and resolution.

It will be the same situation for ps4 neo. Though I think they will fare better cause it won't be as big of an increase in power and sony are only really thinking about res bumps and better AA and maybe slight texture res increases.  MS just wanted to be on top and they are gonna be sloppy at it I think which will hurt them.

FH3 does look really good. I don't usually ever buy racing games for pc but I'm going to keep a keen eye on this game.

Gears doesn't interest me at all.

Oh it was one of the many reasons xbox was going to win before launch.

Inside is looking to become the first 90+ Xbox exclusive (timed? No idea), coming kinda out of left field.
