I would assume Sony will release the Neo close to the holiday season when consumer spending will be at its highest.

Yes and no. Yhey dont need to sell the neo like they sell ps4. So if the neo sells like a ps3 did than that would actually be pretty decent.

But the public reaction would be bad. I think 699 would avoid so much internet backlash. PS3 memes but also it'd just make it feel like an expensive console, not a elite console.

A premium product for a premium price. Or do 499 so it's just above what PS4 launched at. 599 just seems like a poor middle option.

Well it is supposed to be a premium product that's not there to replace the original PS4. Also people have been expecting the Scorpio to be in that area if not way more expensive as well, boogie2988 even said "if that thing launches for less than a $1000, I will eat my hair" (which is a statement I think he'll regret btw.

Eh, I disagree, I don't think people will interpret it that way.

Edit: Also I still wanna know what the deal with that first Osiris rumor is. How much of that is still true? Especially in regards to the release and the games close to its release, since that would suggest God of War and Deep Down are coming early 2017, which would be a pretty big deal.
