I'm distantly from the UK.

I mean that's where some of my ancestors came from.

The thing is, people are solely focusing on the short term economic shakeup for the UK in light of its departure. This isn't likely to be something that causes the UK to be in a long term financial rut. Trade will happen regardless. New deals will have to be made for an independent UK now. It'll be entirely on their terms, though. The UK will come out of it. This actually has far greater consequences for the EU.

The successful Brexit now allows the UK to control its borders and illegal immigration, which has costed the country (and Europe, in general) a lot of money. The rate of migration is accelerating to the point where accommodation will be extremely difficult and it will come at the cost of taxpayer money (and lack of integration).

I wonder what the migrants in Calais are going to do now...

87.2% of the votes counted.

Leave: 51.7%
Stay: 48.3%

UPDATE: Over 93% of the vote counted and the Leave vote is almost 52%. It's pretty much a done deal.

GAF seems to be very pro remain. As we can now see, GAF is an outlier.

We should all be at least a bit worried though.

I'm sad about this. He's been a really good prime minister

Lol saw this on a forum last night.

EU member: Good. Now the UK should push its little island across the Atlantic so they're in a better position to suck that big US lollipop.

Brit: I'd rather we became a 51st state to the US than spend another day in the EU. It's a far more economically sound decision.
