yes and no.  i have an odd career i suppose.  i have backgrounds in engineering and development which is why i work on engineering software as a the product owner/product manager and QA analyst.   <-- that's a recommend don't configuration btw but our team is small.  i read code to point out logic failures but i don't code much myself.  i spend more time learning about how to effectively manage people than keeping up with development technology. 

my development background isn't super impressive by the way.  i did a job for 3 years but it was a college gig where i was the only developer on the project.  my boss was a ex-developer and a great guy so i learned a lot of good technique but i'd never really pitch that "i can code" as why someone should hire me.  it's more like "i can communicate effectively with those that code".

however, if legend was willing to give me direct access to his source code i could do wonderful things to this website.  xD

I feel like we hear something similar to the second point pretty much every year and their showing is still lacking almost every year.

i used to until i got a job that gave me a laptop.  then it felt redundant because i'd bring home my laptop anyways since all of the expensive applications i'd ever want are on it.  being in software i won't pirate,.. it is a moral thing but my paycheck is dependent on people buying software so i refuse to not pay for software others have built.
