Quote from: Legend on Jun 10, 2016, 05:12 AMI think the worst thing about xb1 sales is that momentum isn't strong.

It's actually done great compared to 360 yet the only thing we can think about is 360 eventually overtaking it.
It appears that the XB1 is doing well compared to the 360, but that is mainly because of its launch. The 360 was also vastly undershipped early on. Since they both released in November, if we were to take out their first November and December sales, we would have something like this:

(06-08) 360: 9,635,100
(14-16) XB1: ~10,183,100 (+5.7%)

So their post-launch performance is comparable with the XB1 holding a slight lead, for now that is.

Exactly.

XB1 is ahead but we can only focus on the fact it's only temporarily ahead.

Meanwhile I think if XB1 was only at 10 million lifetime but consistently up 30% yoy every year, it'd have a lot less doom and gloom.

Quote from: Aquamarine on Jun 10, 2016, 03:58 AMHi guys, I have some sales data for you that I'll share with you. But here's the thing....if you're going to share it anywhere (like the OP, on Twitter, on NeoGAF) please mention that it came from Aquamarine. It depresses me when people just take the data and repost it without giving me any credit. I have a very busy schedule and life and I'm not going to bother to share data if all sharing data does is depress me. I get flashbacks to how horribly I was treated by NeoGAF moderation and...it's tough.

This data, as always, is courtesy of The NPD Group, and my contact and friend at The NPD Group (no, not the fudgy CEO) who is so gracious to allow me to continue to share data even though he was treated like shame on NeoGAF by the moderators.

First up, console hardware numbers. These hardware numbers are sanctioned for release by my contact:

PS4 Hardware:
February 2016 NPD: 404,900
March 2016 NPD: 330,100 (+0.1% from last March)
April 2016 NPD: 174,800 (+0.1% from last April)
May 2016 NPD: 207,300 (+35.8% from last May)

March 2016 NPD: 66,200 (-19.8% from last March)
April 2016 NPD: 32,300 (-24.8% from last April)
May 2016 NPD: 25,300 (-40.7% from last May)

360 Hardware:
February 2016 NPD: 33,500

April 2016 NPD: 12,500 (-50.6% from last April)
May 2016 NPD: 11,900 (-53.5% from last May)

PS3 Hardware:
February 2016 NPD: 3,700
March 2016 NPD: 2,100 (-96.0% from last March)
April 2016 NPD: 3,700 (-86.8% from last April)
May 2016 NPD: 10,700 (-44.5% from last May)
Thank you so much Aqua, I'll add this to the OP!

XB1 did a lot worse than I could have imagined. I wonder how well it'll bounce back next month with the price drop back down.

PS4 having a 451k lead this year already is crazy.

I'll add this to the OP. Thanks!

So Uncharted fell short of 900k including bundles. That's slightly disappointing tbh considering how much Sony have been pushing it. We'll have to see what the legs look like.

Aquamarine

The highest selling game this month for Nintendo was Pokken Tournament and that couldn't even sell 35K. Every other Nintendo title (including Star Fox Zero + Star Fox Guard, new release Disney Art Academy, Bravely Second: End Layer, Super Smash Bros......not a SINGLE Nintendo title could beat that incredibly small 35K threshold.

Star Fox Zero really should have done better than it has.

Nintendo had a WEAK month....-38% from last month and -29% year over year.

Ratchet didn't collapse in its second month but it also didn't do the best, either. The threshold for the Top 10 is 80K and Ratchet & Clank definitely sold below that but not significantly.

Wow, thanks for sharing, but man those UC4 numbers are lower than expected. I mean I guess if you include digital it will have pulled equal or higher numbers than TLOU, but still I expected more.

Goes to show how expectations can get out of hand I guess. :D

How well does digital do in the US?  Probably over 1m including digital?

In 2014 it was 15-20%. In 2015 it was 20-25%. Now it's 25-30%. I expect Uncharted 4 is around 30% digital.

BananaKing

doom did 512k i guess thats ok. hopefully it will have good legs and have a strong digital attach rate. steam spy has it at 580~ roughly. so basically USA retail + Steam is around 1.1 million. not bad. hopefully Bathesada consider it a success and make another one.
