Nvidia said it was as powerful as 2 GTX 980 in SLI.

Quote from: Mmm_fish_tacos on May 08, 2016, 05:15 PMSo not quite 2x
Keep in mind that SLI is not 1:1.  ~1.7 / ~1.8, is probably pretty close to what you can expect for SLI.
So yes, GTX 1080 = ~2 GTX 980 SLI

Why are so many people on gaf worried about their CPU's when upgrading to the 1080. I don't think the bottle neck is going to be that noticeable in 90 percent of games.

I agree... any Core i5 from last four or so years won't be bottleneck.

Skylake is only a bit better than 5th and 4th generation or Core processors.

People with that famous Core i5 2500k is laughing yet.

Even running AMD, So people asked about the 8350 and basically told to throw it in the trash. But looking at the bench marks you have to jump into the 400 intel range to make a difference and it's not worth the price.

CPUs are not that big of a deal right now if, as Etho said, you're already running a good processor from the last half a decade or so.

There is a new rumor about AMD being surprised at 1080/1070 clocks speeds and they are trying to anticipate Vega to October.

Impressed.

It is a bit better than what nVidia showed in slides... avg. 30% over 980Ti and 70% over 980 even in 4K.

nVidia did a great job.
