Will NMS be the biggest disappointment of the generation?

We're exactly two months out and the hype is reaching insane levels. Personally I might even be more hyped for it than Uncharted 4.

The potential problem is that online most fans think procedural generation is perfect and that every element of the game uses it. I fear when/if repetition sets in it'll cause a blowback, and I fear the game mechanics could be average and retard people's desire to keep exploring.

That's just me and I've been saying it for years, nothing new. However before launch and reviews I wanted to see what everyone else was thinking along this subject. How well do you expect No Man's Sky to deliver on its hype?

Lol, I always thought it looked like crud. So not for me

I just lost interest in it, honestly the game looks boring, the mechanics looks boring, and the combat looks boring

What interest me is of course the infinite number of planets, the concept of learning the language of different races and having a standing with them, and exploring their lore. But if you don't have the interesting second to second gameplay mechanics then it's a boring game.

And honestly not one gameplay video made me go like "aww that's so fun", when I was impressed they all made go like " fudge that is impressive " (on a technical level)

Its never really interested me. I don't find big open sandboxes that fun. I guess for some people it could be though, at the end of the day there's not going to be very much variety.

Blasphemy! You take that back!

I am personally not excited for it.  If it's good, awesome.  If not, that's okay too.
There's probably a couple dozen games I'm looking forward to far more.
Hype Level:  2/10

I'm hyped but it will most likely disappoint some people. I'm still a lot more hyped for UC4!

i'm also waaay more hyped for uncharted than NMS.  i'm not a sandbox fan though so my assumption is the game will suck for me.  i might pick it up anyways someday if reviews are good enough.  seems more interesting than GTA at least and i like experience a variety of games.

IGN just released a 24 time lapse.

The video shows the planet is not spinning, which is something almost everyone thought was confirmed to happen.

Also a ship flies through the planet.

They aren't game breaking bugs by any means, but they're the first time NMS has had any "disappointing" news.

Will be interesting to see how the communities handle it.

The indicator in the video that the planet is not spinning is the stars at about the 40 second point.
In about 10 seconds (1/6th the video) the stars should be moving fairly fast.  But you can quite clearly see that they hold their place in the sky only to disappear when the lighting changes.
So not tidal lock.

Yeah unless the game cheats with lighting, the planet has ~20 minute years.
