What do you guys think?

I'm thinking about doing a light blue on the ceiling. Just to make it look higher up.
Get rid of the textures.  Hook up a vacuum to a sander.

That's a sold week of work.

I could knock it down quite a bit, as this room is pretty agressive on the texture.

I know, but worth it.  Probably make the house more attractive if you sell

I'd have to do the whole house.

I watched videos on skim coating the walls over texture to smooth them. It looks a lot faster.

omg that texturing...

..if you have the time i'd pull all the dry wall down and redo it.  will be waaaay faster than trying to take the texture off and dear god is that ugly.

It's like they didn't even try in this room. The rest of the house is the same way but it looks so much better and dosent bother me. But this room is just out of control.

Knocking down the drywall isn't an option. That would cost more than I'm willing to spend. This isn't a forever home. So when I do something to it I have to keep return on investment in mind.

dry wall is like $6 a sheet.  that room doesn't look that big so it would be like $50 in materials...

..however if the rest of the house is the same than i guess just paint it.

About 10 bucks a sheet and would take about 10 sheets, plus trash removal to the dump. A and tools I'd have to buy that I don't have.

If this shame was a car I'd be set. I don't have much in the way of home improvement tools.

dry wall of all projects doesn't take much in the way of tools.

razor blade, putty paddle, screw driver.   rest is all consumables,.. drywall, putty, tape.   anyways,.. i like home improvement projects so i have a skewed view in that regard.

I think I'll take an area and knock it down with a sander and see if I can get it to look better. If not I'll go from there.

Okay, So I went and bought a few things, joint compound and a wide putty knife. I used a scraper to knock off the texture and then skim coated with the joint compound. It took about 5 minutes to do this. It looks like I'll need a light sanding and one more coat to finish off this area.

Now I just need a bigger knife.

darkknightkryta

That looks a lot better.
