Gears 4 MP looks absolutely horrible

This thread is bashing on the game's visuals, but they are really really bad. 1080p and 60fps was a mistake if the game looks like a 7th gen remaster.

I copied all images from It's Hard to Get Too Excited About Gears of War 4 | Kotaku UK

You can also see video of the game.

EDT: put in a 60fps video instead

Nah, it looks like an early 7th gen remaster that got tossed out first day.
I think in some ways it looks worse than Gears 2

I'd almost be willing to bet that they'll change the multiplayer resolution at some point during the games development, right now the multiplayer mode looks bad graphically, especially the blood effects just look really cheap.

Only campaign is 1080p from what I heard.

Source?

Everything says both are 1080p.

Microsoft has confirmed the resolution and frame rate for its upcoming shooter Gears of War 4. Producer Rod Fergusson tells Game Informer that the Xbox One game will run at 1080p/30fps for campaign and 60fps for multiplayer. He didn't share a resolution figure for Gears of War 4's multiplayer mode.

i'd take that to mean "not yet determined".

Producer said SP is 1080p@30 and MP is 60fps meaning the resolution is lower or dynamic.

Legend

Yeah dynamic seems likely.

Guess all the other websites just jumped to conclusions.  ::)

Personally I don't like dynamic resolution. It feels bad having games get blurry during big action moments.

I really can't see gears doing much damage.  Halo had a massive decrase,  but I expect this to decrease too.  Microsoft are in a bit of trouble if it under performs. Their 2 big shooters on decline.

You mean their only two shooters.  they didn't stop to think what would happen if they saw a decline. I don't know if they were being short sighted or just naive in thinking it wouldn't happen to them, but they doubled down on these games not expecting a decline.

Also, what do you expect from the visuals? They scrapped what they were working on for years and slapped this together

i don't think either.  i think the decisions are coming from higher up than xbox (read nadella) who think these games are unneeded.  they kept the profitable ones because they were profitable.   ..but i think ms wants to be like apple/steam and not make games but just control the way you buy them.

with respect to gears visuals,... what can i say other than the game is on xbox.  they can only do so much on the hardware they have and that esram (or whatever) clearly was a bad choice for visuals and a great choice for frame rate.  i think they are just doing the best they can with what they have.   ...and it doesn't help the studio is brand new either.
